In these days of the new iOS 7, every app gets an update saying "iOS 7 compability", or "updated for iOS 7".
What does this actually mean?

No it doesn't.steffe wrote:most likely :
new UI
also: new features ( for audio inter-app communication) and 64bit
of course it depends on the developer and the feature set of the app.
hope that helps

Doesn't seem like this is the case for most apps, reading the update description?!BiancaNeve wrote:Most likely it means something in ios7 changed and broke their app.

With each major new version, iOSs core audio have been changed, enhanced, built upon. I'm no dev, so I'm fumbling here, but I'm guessing iOSs core audio/midi this time around have seen some changes that requires alot of the apps to use the new APIs and whatnot. Look at Auria, it has had compatibility issues with other apps since the dev switched to the latest (and buggiest) core audio (allowing for various multi routing etc), so in one of the later versions the developer basically said screw it and added 3 core audio modes. First one being "legacy" mode, second one "standard" and the third being the new "multi route" mode. I'm guessing that the oldest core audio..thing...ys...could have been removed in iOS 7, or that there were so many changes done to the iOS core audio that apps using core audio needed to update using the new APIs etc ?
Shit that turned int a mess. Maybe a dev could come in here explaining it all?

I forgot, devs are still under NDA and can't tell you why exactly, yet. Why don't you educate yourself on core audio if you're so desperate to know

I know, I can't believe more devs are not flocking to this thread since you beckoned them to come answer your question.BMoore wrote:Thanks non-devs, for guessing! Really what I was looking for!
Or maybe you could just f**king research it yourself.

Well, not knowing is still 500% better than your giddy guessing.chris1a wrote:I forgot, devs are still under NDA and can't tell you why exactly, yet. Why don't you educate yourself on core audio if you're so desperate to know
And, it's not just a core audio issue. People sometimes...

I would also like to know what it is. What is it you can do with iOS7 with respect to intercommunication between audio apps? How is it different from audiobus communication? Anyone have a clue?
