UPDATE: SCAM? Read the update on page 4

Today almost all my products have been distributed through warez sites. I just want to let people know that I take not responsibility for any damage caused by the use of these illegal distributions.

I already received a couple of complaints about trojans/viruses, but I can't provide any support to solve these problems.*

*How do people dare to contact me for support after they downloaded the software from a warez site? Ask to your pirate friends to solve the problem

Every cracked plugin should have a trojan or virus included. That's the only way to stop people to use warez!

To avoid downloading warez with virus you mean?

Unfortunately Tricky it won't stop them, just slow them down a bit.

I think devs should program in time bombs. The problem with including virus is that this makes it possible for undeserving folks to become victims when pirates pass on the virus through emails or some form of legimate computer usage.

I am sorry to hear of another dev that has been victimized. Unfortunatley this is part of doing business these days (and don't get the idea I condone pirates and their maliciousness - I do not by any stretch of the imagination.) Just saying its part of the same way a shop owner has to deal with petty theives.

But, imo, two wrongs don't make a right.

At some time, hopefully soon, the pirate issue will be dealt with and the breed will disappear. Well, we can hope right?

Then that will give us more time to write our complaints on how a business decides to do business :hihi:

I don't think that will solve much, that would mean that legally bought software also would carry such a hidden threat. We users don't like that, just look at all the negative comments Tone 2 scanning procedure have got for example.

Advocating viruses is on par with if not worse than advocating piracy. Piracy can be undone as crax users become legitimate customers... Data that gets wiped out by stray viruses is very difficult to get back.

And now, a moment's silence for the fallen data... May we meet again in the Singularity :hihi:

Nobody said it would be easy :) You're probably right. But then too, with the other safegaurds in place it may be a way to deter the would be's.

I'm not a user of Tone 2 (didn't like the demos)so don't know about their issues. But, yeah, if they are instrusive to your system that is not right either. To me that's just as bad as the would be's.

Not that I have anything to hide, except my personal information, but I don't want software companies tracking me, mainly because what if they gather all this information, with all good intentions, and then they get hit. Can anybody say Visa?

I have often wondered how many times a software I have installed is "calling home". I don't care if they do as it pertains to the legitimacy of the installed software but I do care how vulnerable it makes us.

No, because I don't go to Warez or other 'pirate' sites.

But because I just stripped off fourteen Trojans off my system that appears to have come from downloading VIs from this forum only. So I would like to check his list with mine to figure out which of the members here I shouldn't trust.

Those who download warez because they can't afford payware, should use free software instead.

There so much good freeware around of high quality, that nobody should need to get warez to be able to record or play live.

Which ones are that?

I download lots of freebies and patches either directly from KVR or from links posted here from devs, but so far my studio computer is squeaky clean, no viruses there.

They were all free and linked on this forum. And twelve of them never showed until I did an extensive deep scan. But it was the two that did that alerted me to check more thoroughly.
