considering the general view most people had/have of him, all the stories about the excesses etc etc, this was really refreshing to see /hear him "normal"
not only was he a game changer as a guitarist/ musician one of his attributes was his modesty.....

Hate to be pedantic...but using "is" is perfectly acceptable when refering to him in the context that I used it in ie: actually watching the video and saying "he is very modest in that interview" its a statement of fact/opinion regarding the interview

edit: Oh yeah, I've seen that. Exactly sums him up considering the way people (celebs) talk about him and what he's been captured as far as "interviews" and all.
I admit, I was a late bloomer in "getting" Hendrix. Anyways....

I don't want to start anything lockable about religion,
but what if Hendrix still is somewhere?
My Dad prefers the past tense but I dunno.
I like to think H is still getting amped on guitar,
thrumming on the divine waves,
and watching out for the players and those who play too hard.
I hear Hendrix did play the game of duelling guitar.
Put them in there place with one tone, hehe.
I don't know much about him really.
Will watch the vid

It's ALL about is humbleness. He was a legend for a plethora of reasons, one was that he wasn't a big-head douche.
Every note is a drink for thirst. He was a PERFECT vocalist for his music even though he didn't think of it that way.
Remember, he made that music and those sounds BEFORE there was that much to get them from.
Respect.

well, the premise of the thread has Dick Cavett telling Hendrix 'many believe you're one of the greatest guitar players'.
How does that get to be true, do you think? Do you wonder if you're missing something really basic here?
How is 'The Doors' not noise compared to the Stones? I'm not a great fan of either but the difference doesn't seem so great in terms of 'noise' factor, they both function in terms of pop song.

If I turn on the radio and the Rolling Stones is playing, I change the channel, because that for me is unwanted sound, which in line with the definition above in other words is "noise".
When you go to a bar The Doors (or whoever) played at loud level isn't necessarily noise, but when your neighbor is playing the exact same track at loud level at 3 in the morning, when you need to go to work the next day, then it is noise (unwanted sound)
