I have a quick question about a 10 inch krk sub. On the back side of the sub there is a volume level in db, right now I have it set to 6 db to match the same setting as the monitors. Is this correct? I have it set to 80hz for what its worth. I'm not sure if I should keep the same db levels the same for both the monitors and sub, does this give it a normalcy as for as the sound goes across the frequency spectrum. For instance if the sub was set to 0db, the monitors 6 db, would I not be hearing all the sound as it truly is across the frequency range, in this case I would hear the low end 6 db lower than the mids and highs, and conversely if it was set to 12 db would the low sound playing be 6 db higher than its true sound compared to where the rest of the mid and high range spectrum playing on the monitors?

Also is it okay to have both white wires plugged in sound card for left and right? There is a white and red wire and im using both whites, should i use i red and one white from each the two wires? Or would it be better to plug both the two white and two red ones into the sub then route the sound back to the monitors using the single plug. This might sound confusing but whats the best way to hook up the sub to the monitors, there appears to be two ways to do this am i correct? How is your sub hooked up to the monitors, especially for trance and dub type sounds?

I have a similar setup, with a pair of VXT6s and a 10s.

You can find a PDF manual here: http://www.krksys.com/krk-subwoofers/10s.html

It states that +6 is the "factory default".

The manual states that 80 Hz is the correct setting if you're passing the signal through the sub to your monitors. That's where mine is set.

Theoretically, if the monitors perfectly match the sub, I think yes, all three should be set at +6. But that's not the case for me; +6 on the sub was way too much bass for my room. I have it set at 0, and that's fine for the low listening levels I prefer when working on music. It can be a bit too much bass when listening to music at higher levels - when not sitting directly in front of the monitor, but in other parts of the room.

My monitors are set at +6; it was the easiest way to ensure they're at almost the exact same level.

Since my sub is under my desk and the back panel is difficult to reach and impossible to see directly, I just leave it at 0. If I'm listening to an album with a lot of bass below 80 Hz, I either turn down the system or LP the signal going to the monitors.

I'm not certain I follow how you have your system wired, but I did mine according to the instruction manual on p.7. I run a pair of XLR cables (left and right) from my audio interface's line outs to the inputs on the sub, and then an XLR cable from each the sub's outputs to my monitors. Easy peasy.

As you noted, there are three sets of inputs on the 10s: XLR in (and out) and 1/4" in, both balanced. The third set is unbalanced RCA in and out. The balanced will perform better, so I recommend you use them.
