So what is Fear and Horror?

It's a collection of presets for NI MASSIVE designed to deliver frightening and disturbing sounds, textures, and a few impacts.

Things like pads, bells, soundscapes, and eerie synth noises that you would hear in a horror movie or dark cinematic film.

There are 50 patches, and each one is mapped to the 8 macros of MASSIVE for quick tweaking and manipulation.

It definitely makes MASSIVE a bit more "evolving" and "soundscapish" than the normal edgy electronic sound it's known for.

Quick Specs

◦content: 50 patches
◦format: MASSIVE (nmsv)
◦price: $5.95

How does it sound?

You all know I like ambient, soundscape, atmospheric type sounds, and this preset library definitely has that.

What I really like though, is how the macro knobs are used, it really lets you get in and change the sound quickly.

I loved some of the bell sounds, and of course the pads and atmosphere's were really smooth and evolving, yet with the turn of a knob they could get harsh and jagged.

Overall I feel like it delivers a unique sound to MASSIVE that may usually be reserved for other synths, or at least not what you would think of when you open up MASSIVE.

The patches are well designed an well thought out in terms of user control

So what's the bottom line?

This is a great collection of sounds for MASSIVE.

It definitely delivers something different compared to many preset libraries out there for this plugin.

I give Fear and Horror 4 out of 5 subs, it's a solid collection with plenty of control to tweak and customize the sounds inside.

The price for Xenos libraries are really reasonable as well.

Go on over and check it out, as well as the many other presets he has for various plugins.

Excellent work. \m/
This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

OK I'm a soft touch ;)

Thanks, Aloysius :). This project definitely took a bit of extra work to do right, but in the end it worked out really well. I'm definitely interested in doing more in this direction. Probably something more "sci-fi ambient" next time around.

@Amused: Hope you find it useful, bro :).
