Hi
From what I understand, ZynAddSubFX is both an application and a VST.
I'm trying to *find* it.
I started from the sourceforge page, linked to Zyn*'s own page, and was told that install packages can be found on the Downloads page. I was *on* the Downloads page when I read that, and I didn't see anything pointing to Packages.
I've typed many things in my Superuser Terminal, but I don't understand what to ask for.
I've got Aptitude loaded, and Cmake. But what do I ask for, from the Terminal? How do I apt-get ZynAddSubFX? What do I type to make it and configure it and install it?
I don't know why I can't guess the keywords to find on Google the specific and basic information I need to just find and install this software...
TIA

Most Linux software assumes you have the knowledge already to install and run. You could be in for a headache. A lot depends on what version and distro of Linux you are running. Unless you are prepared to put time in to learning about Linux, Id steer clear.

Hi
I've no intention of steering clear just because I don't understand it yet.
But I need to know *what* I need to know.
I'm sitting here with tweezers asking what it is I need to pick out of a universe of information.
I don't need to know everything, I just need to know what is the name of the Package I need to install.
I'm installing to Debian Wheezy.
The problem is, *everything* assumes that something else has already explained to me what I need to know.

Curious, are you using Wheezy from a straight Debian install, or is it some other distro that's based on it?
Are you comfortable with the command line or do you want to learn? Here's a tutorial on apt-get, including how to search for packages.
If not, does your distro have Synaptic or other GUI package manager installed?
If so, I imagine it would show up in a keyword search on "Zynaddsubfx", since it's listed as a package here.
