I think this one got lost in the move, so just starting a new one as its a complicated beasty and it would help to collate info!
..a free gift for you all. It is a project that I worked on even before Microtonic but never finished until now. We call it Cyclone because it is a clone of a machine that runs Typhoon: a complete TX16W software emulator in VST and Audio Unit formats.
This one can be summed up as RTFM.
then RTFM again.. ;)

So, now you all have an excelent database of more than 2000 instruments...in only 150mb of fxp data.

Ah... we meet again TX16W....

Wait... er... is this not CWItec?
Nope, heh.

An actuall TX16W clone that is limited to the Typhoon Engine (samples) and 12bit, while the CWItech creation takes this a coupel of steps further with a GUI concept like old Halion and high end sound.

Indeed a very nice and generous gift for reviving the old days.

And why the heck did you just remind me of "Bitspeek"?
So many cool toys, so less money. :dog:

This is the best thing ever!
I just spent way too much time sampling Microtonic into it.

I don't think I ever had this much fun with a sampler before, and it even sounds great!

Awesome stuff!

Sometimes "Oldschool" and "being limited" is still the best thing that can happen, no?

Indeed!
The limitations and the interface can be very inspiring!

Here is the result of my Microtonic sampling session:
Silly Retro Cyclone Beat

Very juicy :hihi:

A video would be difficult at the moment, sorry!

I really didn't do much in that example though.
I just sampled a few Microtonic drum sounds directly into Cyclone at Mono 33k, trimmed them, assigned them to groups (and sometimed splits, to create choke groups) and made some minor adjustments using the envelopes.

I didn't even use the filters or any fancy modulation, the whole thing is basically just playing back the samples.

Cheers
Dennis

I made this one with it. Really cool oldskool sounds but this thing is a bitch to use!

It's very simple and easy to use according to this vid :

I've been using this now for a bit, it's pretty freaking awesome.

It actually has a very crunchy 12-bit "warm" sound

Ok, many people had underrated this amazing piece of software because its complicated to use, specialy if you never used the original...

but, as there are some amazing people who is dedicated (->me <-) to expend hours in order to satisfy ignorand and lazy people who thought this release would be useless...

i took all the typhoon data sounds i found... about 150 banks with many instruments inside, and installed them in Cyclone... and then saved the patches into FXP to allow instant loading instead of loading them one by one...
i took me about an entire day to do it...

isnt this great? wonder to your self how many romplers allow you to have such amount of instruments with a tiny data of 150mb? none right?

Well... this is what happens with Cyclone, you can sample music at 12 bit and make use of the typhoon OS to fastly use the data...

there are several categories for sounds, from bass, brass, drums, synthesizers, and instruments, amont others... most of sounds are really classic, i easly recognize elements of hits of the 90s and 80s used by this machine or the instruments sampled in this case, so this collection may be very usefull for people who do music oriented for film industry or even soundtracks, because this instantly sound classic...

Thank you Mr_neee for sharing your hard work

Thanks a lot! I love Cyclone, so good so good I wish more developers made samplers with 'a sound'
circuit modeling and 0-dfb filters are cool

Post

I'll grab that later tonight. Thanks!

I haven't really used it yet, but I must get round it.

thanks for sharing.

I used the disk baker to convert the Boys Choir. Apparently that originally came from a Kurzweil. Listening to it I think it may have originally come from the Mellotron Boy's Choir.

A sample from a sampler from a sampler from a sampler. Lovely sound.
