Something to discuss night be worth a sticky but which synths / vsti can be altered so that they work with 432hz based music?
I noticed I could tune true pianos to 432. Are there any others that make this easy or are we going to have to use tuners on the oscilators and pitch transposers on samplers?

Just write your music in standard 440hz, and tune the final track down by 8 cents? This 432hz thing sounds as stupid as miracles and faith healings though.yessongs wrote:Something to discuss night be worth a sticky but which synths / vsti can be altered so that they work with 432hz based music?

Absolute frequency reference doesn't change anything. It could be 435hz, or 440hz, or 443hz, or 420hz, or 460hz or anything else. Unless your listener has absolute pitch, such small differences in absolute pitch isn't going to change anything - your body is made out of meat and as such doesn't resonate over narrow frequency bands.
Yeah, intervals are based on whole number ratios, so if you pick a starting number with a lot of factors (432 = 16*27 so it qualifies) and you tune with pure ratios instead of equal temperament, then you get a whole bunch of whole number frequencies. SO WHAT? It doesn't change anything if your C is tuned to 256hz (nice round number) or 261.6255653... (440 * 2^(-9/12)). Tuning your notes to nice round numbers is NOT going to let you talk to aliens, it will NOT make you take a cosmic leap into a next level of consciousness. It just going to make your music notes a little flatter or a little sharper.
There's no conspiracy against 432hz, there's no conspiracy to promote 440hz. There's just no point to retuning every instrument to 432, it doesn't make any difference. A similar thing applies to equal temperament vs pythagorean temperament - yes, equal temperament replaces the 1.5 ratio in fifths by 1.4983070..., in order to be able to close the loop and have a cycle of 12 fifths. And that's a great thing - you're making the fifth 700 cents instead of 702 (which barely makes any audible difference at all), sure the frequency of all your pitches except "A" have infinite decimals, but you also get to cut the notes on your instruments down to 12, which incredibly practical. The aliens aren't going to come and listen to our music and go "hmm, their fifths aren't exactly 3/2, just some very close approximation... better let them stew on their planet".
