Greetings!

I'm looking for suggestions on a microphone to record vocals in my bedroom studio. My current setup is a Blue Snowball that plugs straight into my MacBook Pro. It's been great for demos, but now I want to step up my game.

Also, would a mixer help in getting a cleaner sound (cleaner in terms of clear vocal tone, hearing all the intricacies of my voice, but not getting that background shhhhing)? I'm in a learning phase right now!

If you'd like to get an idea of what kind of voice I'm working with (sound guys at venues HATE me because it's so airy  ), you can find two old demos on my soundcloud (which I can't link as this is my first post), but it's /charmsofficial

Eternal thanks!

Apogee MiC or se electronics mics

GS forum swears by a couple SM57s with anything. All the US presidents have used them...

One thing to remember is that you'll need an interface to run any mic that isn't a USB mic. You won't need to spend a lot. I'll second phreaque's Apogee recommendation. I just picked up an Apogee One (interface with built-in condenser mic) for my MacBook Air and the built-in mic is surprisingly good!

One mic that has really impressed me for recording in a home studio is the Shure SM7B. It rejects background noise very well, sounds great on female vocals, and (hopefully) won't break the bank.

Cool tunes, btw.

I've been curious about that Apogee One mic. Might just have to pick it up... And Shure products have impressed me in the past. Looks like I've got some good options! Thank you!
