system audio keeps switching (windows 8.1)

I have installed some new software lately, notably the jamstix beta, which installs this weird host thingy that floats around even when a host isn't open...
what happens is the system audio (which is typically the firepod main out 1 and 2) just stops working on firefox or chrome, and I have to shut it off or on again...

it doesnt totally malfunction, it's just that whatever software im listening through switched the outputs on me...

When I look, it's playing on (Firepod line out 5&6) instead of (Firepod Main Out 1&2).

so I have to restart the firepod...

it seems like windows is just messing about with which device it wants to use.

no problem with my audio host and ASIO
