I remember seeing him on TV ages ago and being blown away. I'd never seen anyone play guitar like that before. So I went out the next day and bought one of his albums.
What a disappointment!
It was one hell of a boring, cold, soul-less, uninspiring album.
True, he's amazing to watch, but in my opinion extremely boring to listen to. Just try playing this video with your eyes closed.
For jazz players, I'll take Pat Metheny, or Larry Carlton any day.
Hink, have you heard this young Australian guitarist Joe Robinson?

I totally agree about Stanley Jordan, I am not really a fan as in I do not own any of his albums...but I do enjoy watching the occasional times he's on TV or I see a video like this...not sure I would want to sit through a whole though.

This is actually the first time I've watched Stanley Jordan play. I think I prefer listening, actually. I had one of his albums years ago, sadly it was on cassette. When I watch him play, I want to telekinetically move his right hand down where it "should" be.

I remember seeing him on a TV show years back when he did Eleanor Rigby. It's really impressive, but I don't think I would ever buy an album of this kind of thing either.
