Synthmagic and Tronsonic are very pleased to bring you 'J4' for Native Instruments Kontakt 5.2.1 or later (full retail version needed).

Inspired by a legendary 4 voice Japanese analogue synthesizer from the late 1970s, 'J4' also includes an extremely comprehensive sequencer.

Features at a glance:

-Single Oscillator Analogue style synth with 6 Waveforms, a Sub Square Wave Oscillator and Noise Generator.
-Over 320 presets
-2 different sample sets (one DI, one taped)
-Syncable 16 step sequencer system with Filter, Resonance, Velocity and Chord sequencer
-Syncable Arpeggiator
-Syncable main LFO and VCF S/H LFO
-Overdrive function via relationship between 'Volume' and 'Level' controls.
-Sub LFO
-Dual Polarity Keytrack
-Unison, Portamento and Mono mode
-4 Voice or Full Polyphony
-Pitch Bend and Mod Wheel routing system
-Delay, high quality 'Mixbus' Compressor, 'Tape Compressor', Ensemble and choice of 3 Reverbs.

'J4' features 2 different sets of samples - one set recorded 'DI', with a NEVE style pre-amp/eq and boutique valve mixer at 48khz/24 bit.
The second set uses the same method, but has also been recorded to brand new 'old-stock' tape at 15ips on a Studer A807 quarter inch reel-to-reel recorder.

Yup, already purchased as soon as e-mail arrived. Now it's not going to replace my real Jupiter-4 but it'll be handy for when I'm not near it and also it obviously has extra features to create completely new sounds.

Of course I can't actually use this yet as I need to upgrade my computer but I can't resist those intro deals.

Another great joint effort by Synth Magic and Tronsonic.
Both developers are excellent on their own, but it's even better when they team up and bring out these joint products (such as the previous System1000M).
Nice price too.

Wow, thought something had gone wrong with the download. But it turns out that speed is so high that 1GB goes down in less than 40 seconds

Well of course, the 'real' content is in the imagination of the user:)

Saying that, we're also intending to provide another batch of free presets in a few weeks or so.

Thanks to all who've bought this so far - really hope you like it - we plan to make some more detailed videos to show what this thing can do - especially the sequencer, which is really versatile.

I sometimes think my Jupiter has special powers - it's almost alive.

It was serviced and tuned before sampling, but to get the slightly out of tune sound that I liked pre-service, you can adjust the random note slider in J4 by a hair above zero.
Hope you find J4 gets you close to the real thing - it's not meant to be a straight clone, but more of an interpretation, hopefully retaining the spirit of the original to an extent.
We did a clean DI set of samples, but also a taped set, so as to offer a sound similar as to how this might have been recorded back when it was first introduced in the analogue days.

Just when I was thinking there were no vintage analogues to emulate……..

Have to say I have never owned a Jupiter 4 so I can’t give a side by side comparison, but I doubt that’s what J4 was intended for.

Gotta say this is a superb sounding instrument in its own right. Although there are tons of very nicely programmed patches, I tend to want to get deep down into the signal path level and develop my own sounds from scratch. Getting some great rich analogue sounds from J4.

Rolandish GUI looks awaesome and it’s dead easy to programme so ticks all boxes for me.

Sequencer is also excellent with some great features although I have only had time for a quick mess around with it so far.

Made a little video of some random doodling of the chord / scale features of the sequencer. I love the chord feature for long drones etc.

I'm going to make a few more little video demos to show certain features of the sequencer and J4.
