This possibility often remains unknown by most users, but ........ The Xils 3 synthesizer can also be used as a *standard* VST effect, and behave like a terrific effect processor.

When the Xils 3 is used as a VST effect, you can use any of its modules to process incoming signals : Its creamy analog filter, but also all the internal effects ( Chorus, Phaser, Delay, etc), the specific input modules ( EV follower, transient, gate, etc ), envelopes, LFOs, Oscillators etc etc

Then of course, you can connect all these modules together ( If not it would not be modular and so much fun ) and get interesting results.

Here's a video wich explains the basis of all this and explores a few ways to use Xils 3 as a VST effect.

Have you had success using it as a bass or guitar triggered synth? I was trying to do that a while ago but couldn't program it to trigger properly.

Hi Maximilian1,

I'm not sure to understand exactly what you wanted to achieve. Could you give me more details about that ( precise audio path, Xils 3 as an insert ( effect) or as an instrument on an instrument track ? ) as well as the goal of the routing, so that I can try to help you in a better way.

What I understand at the moment is that you wanted to play the Xils 3 (as an instrument in an instrument track) while controlling it with a bass/guitar and probably a bass/guitar to MIDI interface ?

Hello Ltz thanks for the reply,

What I was trying to achieve (and this is with Xils Le) was to use Xils as an insert effect on an audio track, and trigger xils synth engine using audio from my guitar . I was looking at the input tab and there are all sorts of audio tracking setting , do you think xils is capable of this?
If you are familiar with N.I. guitar rig it has module called Harmonic Synthesizer , and this is what I am trying to emulate with Xils.

Hmmm, from what I understand ( like doubling your guitar sound with synth voices, or create subharmonics replicating the notes you play on guitar) you will need an audio to Midi converter, or a midi interface for your Guitar like Roland series.

You can trigger the Xils synth engine, and use envelope follower, transcient etc tools, but this wont give you a duplicate part of the synth layering with the guitar ( except if you play the same notes/chords on a midi track )

You might be interested by Xils-Lab Synthix synthesizer : It has a Guitar mode, and you can assign 4/6 strings of a guitar/bass to 4/6 individual layers of the synth, each with its own dedicated oscillators, filters, EVs, LFOs etc ( so you can play slightly different patches with each string, or have drastic differences between the strings, like a bass on E, and a pad with other strings etc etc) ( But you'll STILL need a guitar Midi interface to achieve this )

Hope it answers your question.
