Instrument sounds of Cubasis - acoustic drums especially

I'm thinking of buying Cubasis but would like to know about the instruments like how many acoustic drum sets come with app and their quality (compared to Garageband for example). What about pianos - does it come with acoustic/electric pianos?

It has some pretty good sounds, the ones that don't overtax my cpu don't seem to be editable at least from what I can see. I'm using an iPad 4 and the Micrologue sounds are for the most part unusable due to the cpu problem. I hope it's just something I'm doing wrong and someone can help me with this.
The electric piano is okay and I don't remember an acoustic piano, it might be there and just not usable for me. You can use IIA and import in sounds from other apps, I hate to admit it but I'd never tried it before and it's so easy with Cubasis that I had to and now I'm pretty happy.
Sorry I've never dealt with the drums at all, I don't have time to record so I just use the app as a sound source.

Thanks for answering. What I'm looking for is more traditional instruments for rock, blues style music.

You may be better off with other apps for those sounds. iGrand Piano for pianos is terrific. There is also iElectric for electric pianos. Galileo is great for organs, and GarageBand has pretty good organs as well, just not to the same editing level as Galileo. SampleTanks has a large variety of drums that will fit those styles, though many of them are extra purchases. I also like DM-1 for drums, but they tend to be better geared towards electronic. DM-1 does have some acoustic sets and you can also add your own samples if you have any, but I find SampleTank has better acoustic presets.

I've got many of these apps like Sampletank but I'm interested in sequencing and I'm used to the pc/vst world and that's why I'm trying to find out about Cubasis' internal instruments.

--Thanks for the advice. I use Sampletank for a few synthi type sounds but mainly for the saxes that go very well in our classic rock band. The cool thing I liked about Cubasis was layering the sax with something from Animoog or one of the other apps including the regular sounds in Cubasis. I still can't get Alchemy to work with it though even though it looks like it should.

Gepetto1000, You probably already know, but you can sequence those other apps from Cubasis. I would recommend at least an iPad 4, otherwise you can get crackling. I don't own Cubasis, so I don't have first hand experience with it or the sounds, but I have sequenced some drum patterns using Genome sequencer and SampleTank.

Yes I know about the possibility to sequence other apps but the process seems pretty awkward to me (I've got an iPad Air currently).
That's why I'm trying to get some kind of an idea about the sounds within Cubasis. Alternative for me is to stick with pc and wait for something similar in iOS world.

The process for cubasis and sampletank is extremely simple.
Create a new midi track. Set the instrument to be sample tank. Set the patch in sampletank. So far almost exactly the same as using a vst on your PC.
Only limitation is if you want to use more than one patch you need to freeze each prior track.
As it happens I think the included sounds are not bad but ultimately that's a question of personal taste.

Although I absolutely love Cubasis (more than Nanostudio or Beatmaker or so) the native sounds IMO are horrrible.
Then again -as people mentioned- you can easily use Audiobus or interapp audio to route other instruments.

Glad this thread is here, have been wanting opinions audio latency when sequencing other apps with Cubasis. How is it going for you on iPad 4 when sequencing other apps?
I use Animoog a lot, which can even crash ableton and other DAWs, due to the massive amount of midi data coming off the controllers for the capacitive keyboard. Tell us how Animoog and other 'heavy' apps are running for you all when sequencing from Cubasis.
Thanks for your input, cheers

I bought the app and you're right, the intrument sounds within (not synth) truly are horrible. Of course audiobus with the current saving feature helps. But there's still missing a decent acoustic drum app for iOs environment... (We can only wish that Alesis updates the dm touch app for audiobus
)

Acoustic drums are hard on iOS yes. Admittedly I rarely use them or just resort to loops. If at all I prefer 'Impaktor' for more exotic sounds.

DM touch does have inter app audio though, so should play nice with Cubasis.gepetto1000 wrote:I bought the app and you're right, the intrument sounds within (not synth) truly are horrible. Do you mean like Sampletank with audiobus so that I could create a midi track driving dm touch (I have not tested inter app - side yet)?
