webpage presentation - how should it be?

:?: If you present your music not mainly on myspace, facebook or
soundcloud, and if instead you have your own webpage, how would
you design that page?

Should its design fit to the songs on the page?
And how would you do that fitting (colour, navigation, icons, special
images, ...)

With all these thoughts in mind we've completed our webpage this
week: enroe.de

-- Does its outlook match the spirit of the songs (rock)?
-- What's your first impression / thought?
-- What's annoying, what is good?

Thanx, Andy.

It's not bad. There's a lot of stuff there -- but perhaps too much? I thought "short info" would give a biography, but it doesn't.

I have to scroll around to see everything, which isn't nice (1280x1024 resolution).

That purple haired guy is odd, but funny.

Guestbook is good to have, but a news section can be dangerous. Dangerous because there's a chance you find yourself updating it every two years and even though the band is active, the news section might make it look stagnant.

Are you using frames? Isn't that a bad practice these days? And is that font Comic Sans? If it is, that is bad practice.

I think it's still good in general, though. A bit 90s perhaps, but more interesting than just a single page with a link to Youtube/Facebook/Bandcamp/wherever. There's a lot to go through, which would be nice, if I picked up the link from your gig and I'd be interested in you because of that.

edit: perhaps consider merging "songs" and "cds" as "music" and "live" and "videos" as just "live" (or "media"). Their contents are related so it isn't really necessary to separate them on different pages..?

Hello ras.s!

Thank you for taking time and inspecting our website! Your feedback
is invaluable. Short feedback from me:

Yes, good point, we will rethink it.

Haa, that's done with a 3-D-Animation program, a laborios work.

Yes, a good point. Thought about that too. For the frequent visitor it can be nice to see "what's new". For us it might be important to have s.th. new every two month to overcome this "stagnancy"-impression you chipped in with.
ras.s wrote:Are you using frames? Isn't that a bad practice these days?
No, we don't use frames - though it might look as if: The header is exactly the same on every subpage. A very conscious decision of us.
ras.s wrote:And is that font Comic Sans? If it is, that is bad practice.
Yes, you caught us, haha, that's right. Next thing to change is the headline font.

Yeah, we 're rethinking the content. There are always two ways choose between: To merge similar contents - just as you suggested. Or develop contents so that they become very much more different - or supply a very different view on similar things. Just guessing ...

All in all: Thank you for your very constructive suggestions and thoughts! :)

-- A slight bump --

The question :?: still is: How would you play to the gallery (figuratively!)
if you present your songs on your own website:

Just rectangular cool boxes with the song title and a play-button?
Or a fantastic grafic? Or even an animation which is displaying the subject
of the song? What is your ideal conception? How much effort
(time, money) would you put into the design?
