Perhaps free VolcaFM+DX7 combo editor by Synthmata can help you.
Link: https://synthmata.com/volca-fm/#instructioncontrolpanel (https://synthmata.com/volca-fm/#instructioncontrolpanel)
yes, i had tried that - imported volca fm .sysex patch then saved it as .syx patch and tried to import into dexed. but dexed does not "see" the .syx patch to import it.

think what i need is some sort of .syx cart liberian

Hi. First-time listener, first-time caller.

I've been searching the forum and the Github trying to figure out how to scale the Dexed GUI.
My ageing eyes are struggling with the interface on a 27" 1440p display.

The 0.9.6 release notes includes the note, "Fix to apply UI scaling only when applicable".
Does this mean that the GUI is already scaled up?
Does this happen automatically?

I see that 0.9.7 includes some more changes to scaling in the release notes but running it standalone as well as in REAPER I see no way to change the UI scale. I'm left- and right-clicking all over the place but no menus are appearing with scaling options.

Am I missing something?

You have to go into the settings to change the size. Unfortunately it seems the size isn't recalled in projects for the VST3, only the VST2.

sebber wrote: Wed Feb 24, 2016 5:10 pmDamn, I can't find the sound that sounded totally different anymore. However, I tested a few sounds and here are some where Dexed sounds noticeably different from the original (regardless of engine):

1: On DX7 sound goes completely away when Mod Wheel is at 0, on Dexed it's just quieter

3: Dexed reaches Sustain phase faster than DX7

4: Operators 3/4: Beating is slower in lower register

5: Different timbre

6: Different overtones and movements between Dexed and DX7
(play staccato in high register)

7: The DX7 displays a buzziness which Dexed, regardless of chosen sound engine, doesn't have. This unclean buzziness is quite sexy, though.
(play long bass note)

8: envelope times are different

9: Operators 4/6: Dexed has more overtones than the more mellow sounding DX7, making it sound more "digital" (yes, I know...)

10: this sound doesn't work at all in Dexed

11: differences when using Mark I or Modern sound engine

12: same sound as above: Modern sounds closer to original :-)

You can find the SysEx here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/383 ... 0.9.1..syx (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/3833150/Dexed%20Comparison%200.9.1..syx)

Example 2 is missing because I can't find that sound anymore (see above!)

Are these known differences?

Thanks again for all the good work!
Does anyone still have @sebber's Sysex file? Unfortunately the download link is down and I'd like to have those patches to do some testing.

Dexed triggers other instruments!

Hi all together,
i tried to find something concerning my problem but wasn't able to, so please don't lapidate me immediately.
Maybe i am not able to express it correctly but i do my best. If there are any questions that could help to find a solution please ask.

When i use dexed in cakewalk and chose another midi instrument as active, this active instruments gets triggered by the previously recorded dexed midi track. When i chose another instrument as active, this will be "played" by dexed.
The original dexed works fine but there seems to be second output that works as an input to other (the active) instruments.
Dexed is the only VST that has this effect and i already updated to the 0.9.6 (my previous version was the 0.9.5 with the same issue).
With 'The active instrument' i mean the one that is actually triggered by my keyboard.

Any help (or link to the solution) appreciated.
Thx in advance.
My Setup:
Windows 10 PC|Cakewalk|mostly free VSTs
Akai MPK mini MKII|Focusrite Solo|AdamAudio T7V

In Cakewalk, make sure the MIDI Input for your instrument tracks is not set to "All Inputs". If it is, it will use the output of Dexed (or other synths) as an input to another synth. Another option is to uncheck the "Enable MIDI Output" box when you add Dexed to a project. (If you've already added Dexed to a project, you can click on the VST3 menu pull-down in the upper-left area and de-select "Enable MIDI Output".) This will keep Dexed from sending its MIDI output to other instruments that have "All Inputs" selected for MIDI.

It has been somewhere around a year and a half to two and a half years (I can't remember exactly) since a new version was released. I use Linux and a high resolution screen, and the GUI doesn't scale properly. I emailed the developer in that Github thread and asked him if, since it has been so long since a release, if he could do an interim release with at least the GUI scaling support. He responded back to me that he's almost ready to release the next upgrade, and plans for a December release.

If you want to beta test the latest release and look for bugs, here is a link:

Here is what is currently planned to be released:

Version 0.9.7 (IN DEVELOPMENT)
* MTS-ESP microtuning support
* CLAP plugin support (IN PROGRESS)
* Scalable UI upgrade, better UI redraw
* For developers: cmake is now the built system

Best wishes! :)
