hallo,
sadly i had no time to do a manual for my entry, although i think its pretty intuitive, but maybe you dont see all of its features on first view, or if you don't know some of my other plugins some features are not clear.
here are some basic informations about the usage:
Host integration:
Cubase & Live:
Load Rez3 as an insert effect on an audio track or instrument track. Then you need to create a MIDI track and assign Rez3 as target for the MIDI track. You now can control Rez3 with your MIDI controller.
Renoise:
Load Rez3 as a track DSP on any channel. Then go to instrument settings and you will find Repeat-X in the VST FX alias. You can now load it as an instrument and trigger it with your MIDI controller or write patterns for it.
Settings:
In the settings menu you can choose certain global settings like save MIDI CC bindings in presets (saved global per default), ‘catchup values’ which defines how your MIDI controller's knobs or faders work. If catchup values is set to ON the knob or the fader only reacts after the last value is reached (to avoid value jumps), if set to OFF it jumps to the actual fader or knob position.
You also can show and clear all MIDI CC bindings.
Controls:
Basic usage:
- double click left mouse button: sets the parameter to default value
- click right mouse button:
learn MIDI CC: connects the parameter with your hardware MIDI controller
clear MIDI CC: deletes MIDI CC binding
- click right mouse button inside readout label: edit controller value by user input
- hold 'shift' and drag mouse for fine adjustment
i've uploaded a small video about how to best use rez3 (in cubase)
if you have any questions, ideas, issues... just ask here, hope you like Rez3.

I have a question, where/what is Rez3?
And does it have any connection with (I believe) Ugo's synth Rez 2?
EDIT: N/m, I see there's a video, it's a midi/audio controlled resonator or some such?
Where can I grab it?

Would it be possible to make the mix/blend ratio smoother? IMO is a bit too steep (as in too much fx) even at the lowest values. I'd like to be able to use it just to add a bit of background movement to the sound source

you mean the 'wet' slider? also use the volume sliders and the feeds for each voice to adjust it, you are right if all voices are with high volume the wet slider is a bit steep will have a look on it for future updates. Maybe i also should do on/off buttons for the voices?
you also can hold 'shift' while changing values with the mouse for fine adjustment - thanks i forgot to mention this above!

Testing with guitar the envelope filter is cool, can't seem to turn down the lfo. Presets are good. Testing with midi, there doesn't seem to be a way to optionally turn off the midi pitching the comb filters, which would be a good feature.

yeah i know its a bit annoying that the lfo always runs also when its not in use, i will put this one on my list.RunBeerRun wrote:Testing with guitar the envelope filter is cool, can't seem to turn down the lfo. never thought about to turn midi notes off, it also would disable the midikeyboard, but i think its a good idea, so you dont need to mute your midi sequence all the time...
glad you like the presets, they were done pretty fast during the last days before the deadline and i just used some beats while doing it so its good to hear that they also work good with different sources

don't you like the GUI design?
Thank you guys for your suggestions.
thank you, glad you like it!jonas78 wrote:5 star vote from me, best. Cheers for this plugin.
btw did anybody recognise the 'repeat velocity' button inside the settings? this is not in use and shouldn't be there

It's oknubeat7 wrote: don't you like the GUI design?i know its not the fanciest one around here, there was not more time to invest into these kind of things, but in general i haven't planned to make skins changeable for customers.
On a different note, it would be neat it the GUI would be resizeable - some ppl are already complaining about certain plugins having a too small interface, so maybe it would be something worth considering in the future

I have a midi effect that can disable note events that I could put before it, haven't tried that yet.

yes its no problem to implement a switch directly in the app for exactly this, i thought beside the keyboard it would fit fine.RunBeerRun wrote:I have a midi effect that can disable note events that I could put before it, haven't tried that yet.
after all mentioned things till now are additional features things like this will find place in an upcoming update after the challenge.

Been having a lot of fun with this. To know that it's going to continue to see improvements makes me pretty happy.

REZ3 works great with drum loops, check out these built-in presets: slap it, witches reign, vienna deep, midnight express, in the dark, random filter.
