My Google search for 'Trance or Psytrance Drums" led me to a plethora of sample and loop sites that just left me saying "Meh, $150 for that crap?"

These guys obviously have some source for creating their drum sounds, so I started to Google Drum sythesis and Drum software. I didn't see much information post 2010 on the topic, so I'd like to hear some suggestions.

I did some synthesis in FM once upon a time and created an okish BD and a few interesting cymbal like sounds, but nothing comparable to what you'd hear in a commercial track.

I also bought Tremor a few years back, but haven't ended up using it much at all. It seemed cool to create totally weird percussive sounds, but def didn't end up being my go to for drum sounds. It also ate quite a bit of CPU.

In both scenarios, good sounding claps and snares was next to impossible.

What would be worth splurging my paycheck on that can be backed by reviews?
