Air Music Technology are releasing a VSTi dedicated to producing riser and falling effects. They announced a fully functional two week demo. I've spent a couple of hours with it and it seems pretty good with a decent number of presets available.
It is due for release in early September, and I'm hoping that it going to be priced reasonably...
You can get the demo here - http://www.airmusictech.com/product/the ... _uFS2K9KK0 - but it is supposedly only available for 48 hours.
To those who are concerned about such things, the demo requires an iLok account.

I'm noticing a trend here. 2014 will go down in history as the year of the riser, whoosh and passby.

Risers have been popular for a while. I'm surprised that no one has released a dedicated instrument before now.

Yes they've been around for a long time, but traditionally engineers used the envelopes and modulation capabilities of their workhorse synths to make them. During '14 there have been a glut of well-thought-out and designed VST plugins for creating risers and passbys. It's a trend of "one tool per sound" which is in a way kinda cool, but in a way a tad excessive. I can imagine most oldschool engineers cringing at the idea of downloading a special synth just to go "whoosh" or "whoooooeeeeoopp!". Not that they are bad programs, they're very well put together. I just... I dono... It's yet another layer of commercialism between the "engineer" and the sound.

I thought that Rise and Hit was for cinematic swells?

Well, you can disable the "Hit" part and have only the "Rise" in there, which is basically the riser. And there's tons of stuff you can do to both "Rise" and "Hit" parts... It's quite flexible.

Well, this thing has an invert and a swap button which lets you switch the start and end parameters, essentially turning it into a "faller"

I thought it was called a downlifter. Opposite of an updropper, but similar to a fallriser.xalama qo wrote:That, I believe, is called a 'down riser'.

I was scratching my head wondering how to adjust the overall time that the effect took from start to finish, but then rtfm'd and found that the playback speed depends on which note you use to trigger the synth. For example, C1-B1 is 8 bars, C2-B2 is 4 bars.

It is going to cost $79.
My hopes are that there is an upgrade price available for Expansion Pack owners. $79 seems a bit much for something I could do with any instrument, a reverb, and some DAW automation.

Will check this out but both NI's Maschine and Vengeance Phalanx have this covered for me.
