So in the other thread, I never quite got around to agreeing, in basic terms, that a soundtrack is an integral part of a film. A truly great film will have a truly great soundtrack - a great director will see to that.

And a really bad soundtrack will sink an otherwise decent movie ("Pirates of the Caribbean 3", for instance.)

So, Goblin's 1978 synth-heavy "Dawn of the Dead" soundtrack. Aided and abetted by Dario Argento, some of it sounds kind of corny today. But, the main theme still gets me...

Wait, what? The soundtrack was pretty good ("Hoist the Colors") but I thought the movie itself was the weakest of the series.

I have not actually seen Gravity but I've heard from many people that the music really makes it. I have the soundtrack, and I think there's some of each going on -- while it's kind of neat, it's unlistenable in one big lump.

Tron Legacy was basically a crap movie saved by 80s nostalgia, beautiful special effects, and a good soundtrack, making it an enjoyable experience. The soundtrack album and the remix album are both still in my rotation.
