Tried a few and really like little midi sequencer but still looking for a main one. Genome and Soundprism look good.
I bought TouchOSC as it has templates for a few plugins i use, there are some hardware templates on audiobomb. Just waiting for Lemur to be updated but it's next on the list!

I haven't bought them yet but some standouts for me are:
Werkbench
Protein Der Klang
Earhoof
I bought Grain Science recently, awesome sound design tool and essentials are Audiobus and Audioshare for processing and editing samples.

Congrats on purchase!
I bought mine just a little more than a week ago. Now i use it for everything!
I find this jumping between apps a little annoying. Maybe it's just experience. But to escape that i use Gadget which i find sounds terrific! The drums are all good and the synths are very easy to use and easy to make sound good. Lots of sweet spots! The effects are a bit limited but while i could find that hindering, in reality it's not (that much)! You can export everything as stems (by choosing ableton format, but the stems are in a folder, free to use in any other software - on pc or on ipad). There's two instruments in it that you buy separately and of those i think the drum player is a no-brainer. The drums are SO good! The chopper is good but maybe nothing that i use too much otherwise. Lots of tweakability though ... get them both!
Right now http://appshopper.com/search/?searchdev ... me&dir=asc Audio Mastering and AltiSpace are on sale. The company also makes masterRecord which is cheap. It has lost of good presets like "worn out walkman", "home reel2reel" and "too much vinyl". I especially like the "too much vinyl"! I guess Audio Mastering and Final Touch http://appshopper.com/music/final-touch ... ing-system are equal though final touch looks more "pro". But it's very expensive now, i bought it on sale for 4 euro (16 now). AltiSpace is a convolution reverb with a ton of good samples!
Loopy HD is a must. Fantastic app! Great as stand alone, but very useful when recording loops from whatever software in audiobus! I used a free midi sequencer called LittleMidi and sequenced iProphet into Loopy. Perfect loops! Automatically stores the loops in its itunes folder.
For drumming you'll find Impaktor to be a lot of fun. Put ipad on table, use headphones (with TRS contact, ie no microphone on so you use the ipad's one). It will analyse your drumming on the table, both transients and how hard you hit. That in turn will make the synthesized drums sound different. The synth engine is amazing! Very convincing sounds and you can make some really crazy ones using the randomise function. You can record six beats but if you want them individually you'll have to export them by soloing them one by one.
iElectribe isn't working with ios8 yet but is otherwise a good app for drums.
Some synths that i've bought that are stand alone:
iProphet, Animoog, TF7 (free), Alchemy (free), Magellan, Nanologue (free), PPG FREE (free :p ) and Arturia iSem.
They all sound good!
Arturia's synths are excellent. Alchemy sounds very good and sells expansions. Considering the nature of editing on the ipad i appreciate the simple sound sculpting in alchemy! On pc though i loathe it and feels like it's cheating! Heh! Morals!
I cant get my grips around Animoog but i have to try it more. The sounds it makes are great but i don't know how to add my personal touch.. TF7, Magellan and PPG all sounds good. Magellan is stupidly expensive .. i got it on a 1$ sale. It's a bit complicated with it's dual layer architecture. TF7 isn't that easy to program unless you want weird fm sounds. Too many cool apps so i have yet to spend too much time with it. PPG is cool. Free version only has presets and the ability to take a picture with camera and convert to sound .. sort of.
Nanologue has few controls but sounds good.
Caustic is like gadget but very cheap and i think the sound isn't as good. Good tutorial here The channel is great! Lots of reviews of apps! In this video i think he makes Caustic seem better than what it is. Maybe it's just because that i really was let down by the 303 emulation. Not that it's excellent in Gadget either though.
You "should" get it though. Always good to have some creative and inspiring tool. Just record the loops and use them for later.
While writing this i had to start caustic to listen to the synths and i think i have to take back my comment on it not sounding as good. It's just the looks of it that makes it feel like a "toy" but it really do sound good
While this applies for all sound sources - Take a sound and record a loop in Loopy. Tweak a little and record another one.. and another one. You get some insanely fat sounds when they all stack! That said ... right now i cant get them to sync via midi. Oh well!
First app i bought was Auria. I also bought an audio device from cymatic audio called LR-16. Basically it turns my ipad into a 16 in, 2 out digital mixer! You get a really good channelstrip for each channel along with two sends. I think there's either 4 or 8 groups.
Next in line is n-Track. It's a daw where you can load all those synths (iProphet etc) and effects. Not all are available. Filtatron seems to not be compatible with anything but it could be that it's not yet working with ios8/audiobus. I find n-Track to be REALLY frustrating to work with. Maybe i need to give it time. It could be that it's better than Auria for multi-tracking. the LR-16 isn't here with me right now so i cant test it but it seems i cant manage to get it to record from the internal microphone even! Gah! haha
FLStudio seemed good but it turns out that it's just that step sequencer for samples and good sounding synth with presets. Amazing tweakability with only Attack and Release as controls... /facepalm All sounds sound very good to compensate and you get (i think) 5 effects per track and six on master output .. not bad!
Tabletop is cool but you'll need to buy compatible synths/effects. I like the idea. You can buy synths/effects in the store so you know they're compatible. They should still be usable as normal as stand alone or in audiobus for instance
Then there's Figure, iMaschine and iMPC Pro .. Figure felt like a five minute fun thing to use. The other two .. considering that you can make beats in the other apps, the only thing they have is the fast sampling. iMPC has a really, in my opinion, annoying work flow. Haven't used hardware MPCs so maybe that's why.
I am used to Maschine though so i like that one more. As with most of these apps, the samples are great. Without a doubt you can bring iMaschine to a dj gig and add nice beats with it as it has a Traktory fx setup. You have to record by hand so no step sequencing or piano roll! But you have a comprehensive undo list to compensate.
If you want to (try) dj i think that after trying them all out apart from traktor i found djay2 to be the best. I intend to buy Pioneers wego3 soon which has direct support for it. As the sucker i am, i bought all the addon effects. They're really cool though!
What i really wanted to find was a dj app with a built in timestretching looper like Traktor has (for pc/mac) but i think there isn't one. Djay2 has oneshots only.
DJ Player is also good. Well worth a try. You can do a lot with the free version. Good demo!
For realtime timestretching loopers there's Launchpad and LP-5. Launchpad doesn't sync to other stuff from what can tell. If you want to use your own loops it costs 5 euro or so. .... but without sync ... o.O
LP-5 has sync and importing of your own costs just a little less than it does in Launchpad. Launchpad has support for novation's hardware. Hardware is "planned" for LP-5.
And once you're burned out by the possibilities there's a cool game called BattleRiders. I use it if im tired and need to wake up! Full on adrenalin!
Good luck!

As a multi-track recorder, which one do you prefer over beatmaker2 and auria? How many tracks can beatmaker2 record at once? (got a cymatic lr-16 with 16 inputs)
