Would be great! I’d love to and I would buy it for sure, to have it in my DAW. Would be a clever move too, to get more customers.zerocrossing wrote:
Right, I understand that it's too complex to be a plug in, but why not leverage some of that tech to give a taste of metasynth in a plug in format?

I saw a Metasynth bundle on Galbanium website with waveforms and samples? (not sure) packaged with Metasynth. No clue about Metasynth, I was just getting waveforms for Harmor.

There's a current email offer on Meta Synth to "select downloaders of the demo" which describes me. Twice. I've downloaded it but never pulled the trigger, but at $99 ($148 with Xx) may want to reconsider. Ends September 7.
It is dated ( the email proclaims it is was selected as product of the year for 2010), the Workflow is like nothing else...but so are the results. The times I have downloaded it I have really enjoyed diving in. Just not sure I have the time necessary to really get to know it well...
No coupon code, but if interested you might write Edward who posted earlier in this thread and ask him about it.

Never seen that before, maybe they have got access to credit card statements via the demo sign up?

MetaSynth is incredibly deep. About a decade ago I was using it for special effects and as part of an audio-visual project. I read about the recent update and it looks more complex but easier to use for someone starting out in sound design. I think that was a positive decision. I know some were put off by the steep learning curve.
But if you put in the time and come to grips with how to use it, your efforts will be rewarded with some of the most otherworldly results imaginable. In terms of the possible sounds it can create, I would compare it to something like Symbolic Sound's Kyma DSP platform.

Benn Jordan does a good job of that https://youtu.be/4-GDOIOAuU4

Benn Jordan just released an overview/review of MetaSynth. Covers how the tools (rooms) relate and flow together to create loops and samples, even a bit of hot to collage. Here is the YouTube link https://youtu.be/4-GDOIOAuU4

After watching the video, I would compare it rather to Iannis Xenakis' UPIC (on stereoids). Kyma is completely different... (I worked with both in the past)
Also IntegraLive could not be compared to Metasynth, but with Kyma... Its interesting though...UltraJv wrote:There is a free alternative for PC :

I was thinking of the radical sound possibilities that have been afforded by dsp systems in the past, but I wasn’t very clear about that.
My experience with MetaSynth is from about eight to ten years ago. I had been using Kyma for a while and was curious about other software applications that didn’t require the additional, external processing hardware.
I was pleasantly surprised by MetaSynth and the sounds I could make without having to rely on dsp hardware. This is the comparison I was thinking of when I posted earlier.
I didn’t mean that the two applications were similar in the way they look or function. Besides something like Csound, MetaSynth got me the closest to some of the mind-bending results from Kyma years ago. I would be thrilled to use the new version. Both apps are supported by brilliant developers!!

The interesting about all these Metasynth, Kyma and Upic, is that they are not only sound design tools, but also, and possibly mainly, composition tools. As such it wouldn’t make much sense to have them within another composition tool like a DAW. On the other hand, most composers I worked with on the Upic did not use it as composition tool, and created material which then would be assembled in ProTools…
Definitely Benns video convinced me to consider MetaSynth, but I need to create a space in my too low budget for it, which would be a challenge…

It's the only program that almost made me switch to mac ,
Played with metasynth for a couple of months , combined with a (hw ) sampler it's a mighty powerfull tool .
So,will it eventually be released for win ??

We've been exploring migrating projects from older versions of MetaSynth (4, 5.3/5.5, 6.0) and Xx (5.3) for "Mac OS X" 10.5 to 10.14 to CTX 1.0. Turns out it is fairly simple.
For an Xx sequence, open an .xx (file) and save it in 5.3/5. This converts it to a .xxfl (inside a .xx package folder). Then open it in CTX1 and save as a .xxct (inside a .xx package folder).
For MS Instruments, if v4 open in v5 and save "instrument and samples" into a folder, then open in CTX1 and Option+Save to a .samm file, etc.
For MS Image Synth Presets, import a v4 preset into a new v5.3 project, then CTX1 can open that project's .preset file fine. The tricky bit is the import tool (launched from Image Synth menu) will load a selected .preset file (floppy icon), but then you must select each preset in the file one by one (grid picklist icon). Rinse and repeat.
