Drum app that has variations and fills...

Does anyone know of a drum app that has fills and variations on beats?
I know there are plenty that will produce a monotonous single rhythm that constantly repeats, but what I am looking for is something similar to how arranger keyboard drums work...with like a part a part b, a fill pattern to jump between and also some form of short ending pattern.

Most drum machines will let you switch between patterns on the fly using a keyboard. So if you're willing to program your own fills you can use that.

When I said "drum machine" I was thining along the lines of VST plugins, but I see we're in the mobile forum
There has to be an app for that. They have an app for everything.

Thanks Peter - I didn't know that. I will check it out, maybe add it to ST for iOS
EDIT: yep on first look, that could be just the ticket. I have never used amplitube (I am a keyboard player) before so that will be a learning curve as well, but might be worth doing.
Cheers

Well it is okay and is pretty easy to use however there are no tweaks in it. For example the patterns play instantly and it is really difficult to get the timing right on the tap. Would be good if there was a one bar delay before a new pattern started.
I will need to keep looking.

Thanks, but I already own that app. And it doesn't do what I am looking for.
I need a drum app that will just continue a loop for however long until I decide to tell it to play a variation, or a fill or even ending. The one with irealpro is locked to the arr of the particular song. Unless it has changed. I must admit to not having looked at it for a long LONG time.

So from the lack of responses (and no follow up from IK re its Drum thing) I guess there are none. I would nto have thought it a task too difficult, but there you go.

TBH, I cannot see why an app developer (of drum apps) has not thought of adding the ability to get live drum backing where the user can select a main riff/variation riff/ fill riff or ending riff at random. It surely can not be that difficult. The Amplitiube drum player can sort of do it, but the change is instant, so you have to be "tick" perfect to get the change to sound musical. And even then it is still "wrapped" in the Amplitube app itself which is not really required at all. And in any case trying to get the "touch" perfectly timed is a bit difficult, even without using two hands already occupied for actually playing a hardware instrument.
I have been searching for a couple of days now and there a loads of drum apps, but they are all pretty muhc the same, or are for "doof doof" music only.
If a dev could create a drum backing app I am sure that the (huge) solo artist market would snap it up!

Hi miden,
I'm the developer of uFXloops for Android, and by the way, I am a drummer.
When developing uFXloops I put a special focus on drums as my own passion, though uFXloops is a full DAW.
I think it does exactly what you need, you have a soundboard where you can put a lot of different patterns and fills. And with the correct track setup the fills will mute the looped patterns and a pattern switch will be fluent.
There is also a community project in uFXloops demonstrating exactly that. It is called "Drumschool" and contains drum slots only.
I would be glad if you try out uFXloops. It's free. And then, if you have the time for it, please provide feedback, let me know what you think. In a future release I might introduce "stacked" slots, more 'humanizing', more randomness for drums patterns, and it would be nice to know your thoughts about it.
Best regards
Andreas

Thanks Andreas, I will give it a go. However I was hoping for an iOS app preferably as I am using my Galaxy Note Pro 12 tab for chart reading. I was planning on using the iPad for the task outlined in the OP.
But still I will try the app
Cheers

From my experience with KVR over the years I believe that this is a highly unwise conclusion for you to come to, especially since you only waited literally one day for a response. People have lives, and it's unlikely every person who has read your post has experience with every drum/percussion related app available. For example, I have quite a few apps that I'd need to check to see if they have the functionality you're after. However, most are not on my iPhone (I'm using to type this); some are in holding on my laptop, some are for my iPad (which I don't have with me). I'm happy to check them to see if they might be what you're after, but I'm also not getting paid to help you, so you'll just have to wait (if you care to).miden wrote:So from the lack of responses (and no follow up from IK re its Drum thing) I guess there are none.
