Most underwhelming releases 2014

[I've got my cynical hat on today]
We've had some fantastic software releases this year but also some big disappointments, mostly from the biggest companies in our field. Here's my top 3:
1. My prize for the biggest fail of the year would be Izotope, twice, for Ozone 6 and Iris 2. The former is downgrade from Ozone 5, and the latter an expensive minor update that breaks compatiblity with Iris 1.
2. Native Instruments, despite putting out Molekular, failed to include it in the disappointing Komplete 10 Standard. No updates whatsoever to any of their core products. Reaktor 6 guys?
3. Finally, a recent entry from Arturia for V Collection 4 / Matrix-12 V. Those who know the hardware say that it doesn't sound anything like it; for the rest of us the filters are disappointing and the bottom end is missing.
(I have given up bemoaning that another year has gone by without a 64 bit Mac Sylenth; hopefully U-He are about to make it irrelevant anyway.)
What have you been disappointed with this year?

Izone 6 definitely a complete white elephant imo.
Soundtoys - Not released yet, but tomorrow I think. Comes in a 'rack', so you can stack all your ST plugs together. Woohoo! Just what I'd never want to do.
So, I won't be upgrading unless I absolutely have to.
Um... That's it I think.

Stank 3

Not sure if maschine 2 counts as 2014 but I was very impressed at first, but i dont seem to use it much and have recently started using 1.8.. not saying its particularly underwhelming, just aware that im not using it as much as i should!

Yeah, plus one on Iris too.SLiC wrote:1. My prize for the biggest fail of the year would be Izotope, twice, for Ozone 6 and Iris 2. The former is downgrade from Ozone 5, and the latter an expensive minor update that breaks compatiblity with Iris 1.
One thing that I forgot to mention about Ozone 6 was also the upgrade price to go from O5 advanced to 06 advanced was $300 (plus VAT for me!). No thanks. I wrote to them saying that I refused to pay for an 'upgrade' considering I was actually getting less for my money (in my opinion anyway).
I'm very disappointed with them. I'll probably flog my copy soon. I've got some nice vsts that can replace it now as well (Acoustica, etc.).

Besides the iZogates which have already been mentioned I bought a standalone app named TimeFluxSomethingWhatever which was so underwhelming that it created a black hole in my studio.

I've got to disagree with that one. The wait was frustrating, but what they delivered was a very big step up from ST2. Bigger library, better quality samples, a lot more configurable FX, MIDI looping - I certainly wasn't underwhelmed.SLiC wrote:Sampletank 3 underwhelmed after that long wait also....

Komplete Ultimate 10 (over-priced and underwhelming) and Reason 8 (underwhelming). In both cases, I kept my cash.
