Just wondering if anyone has come across a similar app to Cantabile (for PC)...one that can "rack" several iOS vst's to allow a user to dynamically select one or more?

Post

What do you mean by dynamically? You can rack several iOS apps with Audiobus and there's also state saving where you can switch presets on the fly.

There are a couple of Audiobus compatible mixer apps, but that's about as close as you are going to get to a host on iOS, since it can't use VSTs.

Thanks guys...what I meant was that in Cantabile (and I think in Forte) one can setup various arrangements of instruments in banks...and then recall that setup on a song by song basis.

For example have a bass instrument and a keys instrument set, with all requirements (eg vol levels, split points, effects etc) and then be able to recall it via a midi command.

Sorry for using the term VSTi AC, and I know iOS does not use vst's per se, I was more using it as a term to make what I was asking a little easier to understand, if you get my drift.

Reason for the query is I am trying to decide of I want to proceed ahead with an iPad (probs a new Mini 2) + Controller, or a laptop (probs a used Toshiba Portege M780) + Controller. Cost for either is about the same.

I don't know if ios8 is ready for prime time yet, i have issues with some apps in Audiobus and IAA. I was also reading on the Auria forums that there are cpu spikes on the Air 2 as well but Apple but Apple are working on an update.

Which apps were you thinking of running?
