A rise of "Page 22" (post by Jan) rubbish in the Cafe?

As probably none of you have noticed, I'm no where near as active on KVR as I use to be in the past.
I have been peeping in probably once or twice a week just to see if I am missing anything really good, and I noticed in the Cafe a lot of strange names I'm not familiar with (not necessarily a bad thing) have been posting songs that are...well, the kind of music I think a lot of the frequenters of KVR despise.
Did I miss something here? I mean, hats off to KVR definitely gaining a lot more members. But it seems like the cafe has had a higher abundance of songs and genres I find by the scores anywhere else, with other posters commenting, critiquing, and sometimes praising these songs. I suppose it's my own job to push the more interesting songs to the top, but...I kind of blow in and out of KVR so quick I don't exactly feel like taking the time to find the the stuff

On the other hand, I could be completely out of my mind, and the state of the Cafe is really no different. I wouldn't be surprised if that is that case.

EDIT:
Title. Because arguing about what constitutes EDM is not what this thread is about.

I stated that was my perception months ago, or a year ago (time is sifting away for me). Someone told me I was mistaken, it's same as it ever was. It's KVR, though, it's very techno-centric and 'music cafe' at times seems as much of 'demo of these plugins' as a 'cafe' and that was probably true ten yrs ago.

hmmm I'll be on a faster internet connection shortly and will be hearing them. No comment until then.

I dont expect people to comment on my music in the cafe, I'm far too old school for some and while my tastes are eclectic and open minded I cant expect others to be the same. I agree it's trending away from the music I make, but that is nothing new, even before the internet...trends change. For me the number one reason to post music in the cafe is to get my songs on the song tracker.

Of course I dont comment on a lot of music in the cafe either so I'm no better, but it's hard for me to be objective when it's genre that is really not my thing at all. So I cant complain if people do not bother with my music.

The site always has a steady influx of new members. Many of them like the styles of music which are currently popular in the world. Why is this a surprise? If KVR could have existed in the late 1960s, everyone would be trying to sound like the Beatles and the Stones. Pop music is fashion. Why should KVR be immune?

That people post what they post is no surprise to me, but that people brand new to the site go directly to music cafe having never interacted, or commented on the other things there expecting some action is somewhat surprising, it's socially retarded.

Post

KVR has risen in popularity amongst some types and become just another place to paste their 'Check my tracks' post...

But, imagine how annoyed you old curmudgeons would be if these new folks actually were posting outside the cafe. :P

This is kind of more what I am talking about.

I felt like when I looked at the cafe earlier, there almost seems to be a divide between "people who frequently are active on KVR forums" and "People who post music to the Cafe" - Not that I look at other subforums other than the Off-topic, Everything else, and Cafe on most occasions. So maybe crowd B posts in the sound design area for all those who want to know how to create generic super saws, dubstep kicks and snares, and whatever else - which don't get me wrong, I'm not hating on them for that, I think many of the active members have answered that so many times now, it's nice to have another crowd answer it instead.

wouldn't bother me none, people post examples of things in other forums all the time. It's less likely I will be interested in a thread that is outside of my preferences as well, so much of that I would miss entirely

Oh dear, is the Music Cafe too open-minded again. Someone should sort that out.

Very little of what people are interested in here speaks to me. I _can_ shape my own experience here, which becomes more and more narrow over time. I want to be interested in 'sound design', but I'm not interested in people that want to know how to replicate some thing exactly from some music I'm not interested in to begin with, and that tends to dominate.

I'm just saying, people known from being around are more likely to draw some traffic to their post at the cafe, that's how people are.

That is sort of how I think. That is what I subconsciously assume, anyway.
Its a public website, so I assume that popular things in the world are popular here, and Im into a limited amount of popular stuff...
So I dont post in the cafe much, but it doesnt bother me. There are other places for it. I hear some good music made by people from here, but some of it doesnt appeal at all, aesthetically. I dont assume there is a 'market' for my opinion/work aesthetically, here.
At the core this is a site about tools that can be used in literally infinite ways, so sharing the particular product of the tools here, feels a little odd for me.
I like listening to the stuff the synth guru preset guys post, here.

Yeah, if I had some expectation of this forum mirroring me a lot, it would be annoying as you said above. Some days it is but it's my choice to care.
I'm here for something else to read while I eat, I'm doing multiple renders and I'm bored, or I feel stupidly chatty, or it's sorting out something music theory board has going on. Since the changes, where you have to designate the sub-forums you want to see, I designate only theory; hosts; everything else; instruments; effects; and samples. and the cafe. Lately I added off topic. I'm generally occupied with musical thought, albeit lately I feel retired, so I'm not looking for anything, so as to what goes on at the cafe, whatever. When I was new and wanted people to notice, I went around and commented. You get back what you put in.

Just an observation, six months ago or something I said I thought there was a lot more posting and names I never saw before, but others thought this was not new. But it seems like when I started lurking it was more 'the usual suspects' posting in the cafe and more interaction, rather than so many with zero replies.

I am not a fan of edm unless I'm drunk. When I'm drunk, I'm not on kvr.

The term "EDM" has warped and now means cheesy rhythms for deaf people. Luckily I don't see these in Cafe, mostly ambient / progressive dominates.
