please don't remove it, reaper doesn't have an A/B button. (though it does do A/B using snapshots, but not as convenient as a button on the effect gui.)

I use it all the time in plugins that have that availability - comparing different presets, tweaks or settings to see which I like best.

I dont use it all the time like that but I do use it, and I'd rather not lose the ability in plugins that have it.ImNotDedYet wrote:I use it all the time in plugins that have that availability - comparing different presets, tweaks or settings to see which I like best.
An idiot on Set Theory:

Most of the time, my comparison is between processed and dry (bypassed), so I don't use the A/B switch much.
For me the host A/B is enough; but if some quite known hosts are still lacking this feature (or its implementation doesn't give the best workflow), then I'd say it should be kept in the plugin.
Perhaps, would it be possible for the plugin to ask the host's name and version and conditionally render the button (though it would probably mean leaving some empty space on the gui, which I'm totally unsure about)? Or having a bar with controls which can be shown/hidden by a global prefence?

I use it all the time and it always annoys me when a plugin is missing this feature.

Better to leave it in the plugin menu and not have some people use it, then remove this handy feature for the folks who do use it.

I had been putting together a list of things I personally consider "best practices" for plugin development (at least from this user's perspective) and finally got around to posting it. Might help...

...and I'd certainly think it could user both user and developer input.
