You might have noticed that podcasts have been seeing something of a surge in popularity recently (thanks, Serial!), and this year I'm finally in a position to realize one of my long-standing goals of launching one that caters to...well, us!
There's so much incredible discussion on various music sites, and I've always thought it would be great to have a show that brings that together, where the conversation can continue and be shared across all forums, websites, and communities…and beyond to the wide world of folks who don't frequent message boards or subreddits.
A show by music producers for music producers, where members of our community can hop on, talk shop, and chat about industry news, gear, or just share funny stories.
Of course, there's more than banter in the works...I'd like to feature listener music (almost like a radio show, perhaps with reviews), do some short tutorial/technique segments, composer profiles, and, of course, I have periodic developer/composer interviews lined up. Depending on the publishing frequency, it would also be fun to have a new composer write a variation on the opening jingle for each episode—one theme, many variations sort of thing.
There's no shortage of exciting ideas for the show, but it's time for me to put the concept out there to you for your feedback, and to do that I've prepared a very short survey that will help me refine the direction before launch.
If you can spare me about five minutes of your time, I would be very grateful for your input: https://mariusmasalar.typeform.com/to/SGJ3D6
For the record, I've been co-hosting and interviewing for the Tracksounds podcast (The SoundCast) for more than five years, so I'm not new to the world of producing and maintaining a podcast. I've watched podcasts evolve as a medium and think now is an opportune moment to jump in with a top-notch show that gives a voice to our part of the industry.
I can't wait to hear your thoughts—please fill out the survey if you can, and feel free to drop some comments in here as well if you prefer.
