I've always liked AudioRealisms plugins - especially ABL Pro. I was actually quite shocked to see that AR released a whole new plugin rather than updating the ABL Pro.

In either case - any users of Dominator here? What's the good and bad points?

Yeah, plenty of love for it here. It's not the most precise emulation but its worth the money regardless. I spent a few weeks making presets for it and i found it extremely versatile. It's the envelope that makes it unique as a VST.
They added a new filter option on the RE version that is coming to the VST version soon i think.

All the AR stuff is worth it as far as i am concerned.

That's interesting to hear! Especially since the "Roland" filter + envelopes on Diva is my favorites.

Apologies for being OT...

Perhaps they felt it was perfect as it was. :) Although it's in desperate need of a decent new skin.

I fully agree bob. It is the envelope that makes it unique as a VST. I know only one other synth which has that kind of very versatile envelopes (without talking about real MSEG), it is VirtualCZ where like in reDominator you can choose the level AND the duration (both independently) for each step of the envelope. The faders for the level of each step and the knobs for their durations. See for example .

That said, this topic is about ReDominator, and ReDominator is a wonderful synth to play and to compose with. It is one of my preferred synths ever. Even if the original Alpha-Juno was essentially made for EDM/Techno/Trance, these styles of music being not my personal attraction I fully enjoy its sounds in ambient music and prog/cosmic rock music. The Hoover sound was really a wonderful invention usable in many styles, and reDominator renders it in a perfect way. It is able to produce incredibly beautiful evolving pads as well as splendid crystal clear solos.

I love Redominator, to me it is the best Juno 1/2 emulation so far. I had a Juno few years ago.

You will love Redominator if you loved (dutch) Hardcore in 90s. If not, then to you it is only a old synth more. To me it is essential like a Roland 909 sounds.

With the 30% off deal they have right now, it's under $40. I don't really need it, but that's a great price. And yes, I did love a lot of early techno and hardcore. Vrrrrrrrrrooooom!

That deal expired on 5 February unfortunately.

It's still active. I just bought it.

That's good to know. It's a shame I haven't got $40 to spare, or even a penny for that matter. :(

Have fun with those hoovers!

Shouldn't this thread be titled "...Audiorealism ReDominator"?

Yep. It should. I initially thought Re - was only for the Reason plugin.

The Yamaha Motif (like e.g. the Motif ES 7 i got since around 10 years) also has comparable envelopes (3 envelopes for pitch, filter and amplitude). They have 5 steps like Hold, Attack, Decay1, Decay2, Release with Time and Level values for each of the 5 steps.
