Hi there,
I really love this plugin:
http://mdsp.smartelectronix.com/livecut/
And I just wondered, can anyone recommend me something that might be able to replace it in 64bit?
I have Audio Damage Replicant and have tried Loomer Sequent - and I don't like either.
Grateful if anyone has good suggestions.
Thanks

Seems like a perfect job for iZotope's Stutter Edit.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the suggestions.
While they both look like really good plugs, neither plug strikes me as having the immediacy or simplicity of Livecut. That's the part that I find inspiring about it.
Perhaps I'll give Stutter Edit a try...
Perhaps I just need to accept nothing will replace Livecut...
Do any of the 32 bit wrapper solutions work particularly well (i.e. not cripple CPU or hurt stability)?

There are ways of interfacing programs like supercollider and csound with VST hosts and I believe that is when the algorithms used in live cut began. So you could go that route or get stutteredit and shoot random midi data at it and get similar results. I had a rig that was a midi arpeggiator shooting completely random notes at artillery with various stutters and stuff assigned to the keys and it gave me similar results. I recently revived this with NIs the finger to good effect. If you do decide to try one of those high level programming environments Grab supercollider and the bbcut Library that live it was based off of. It would be a fun experiment anyway.

nothing can replace it
nick collins developed the original algorithms for supercollider

he has done an ipad/iphone/ipod touch app:

but i haven't tried it...

Just bought that app. I found the only good use for that U2 album Apple jammed down everyone's throat. The app isn't nearly as controllable as live it though. Glad I could give the originator of it a buck real quick though after all the fun I had with live it back in the day.

I'm using Jbridge in MuLab on 64 bit Windowstransmetropolitan wrote:Do any of the 32 bit wrapper solutions work particularly well (i.e. not cripple CPU or hurt stability)?

I don't have an iOS device at the moment although I am Logic/Mac based.Ah_Dziz wrote:Glad I could give the originator of it a buck real quick though after all the fun I had with live it back in the day.
But I echo your sentiment, I would like to give the originator some money in light of the fun I've had from that plug.
Having absolutely no idea about the technical side of such matters, would it be possible for someone to port it to 64bit do you think?
I would imagine it's a relatively niche market vs designing another EQ or compressor but I also imagine that there are enough people out there prepared to pay a fair price ($50?) for a 64 bit version. I know I would.

I'd pay fifty bucks for a 64 bit version. I'm sure MDSP still has his source code. Depending on how he originally coded things, porting to 64 bit on 2 platforms could be trivial or could require completely rewriting all the code basically from scratch. He used to be pretty active on here and can probably still be contacted through the smartelectronix site. His Kvr screen name is MDSP shoot him a message and see if he's interested. He might be able to crowd fund it through kickstarted or something to make sure that it isn't a waste of his time. I'd totally buy it though,

You can do damn near identical stuff with Ableton’s, or even Reason’s Racks, and a little effort. I (seemingly) own all of the VSTs, and they don’t quite satisfy like LiveCut or Supatrigga did all those years ago. If you have either Live or any version of Reason, check out this guy for pointers:
