I'm taking a music business class and the book I'm reading is full of not relevant and outdated methods. I produce electronic music so not interested in setting up recording time at a studio to pay huge fees or concerned about recording all the instruments or even landing a huge record deal with Sony, Universal, Etc. In short it's full of bluegrass examples and basically reads, if you make bluesgrass do this and that etc. The digital side relevant to today is poorly covered and they are using napster as an example of all things. In short I'm interested in something new, relevant for today, with an emphasis on an electronic producer who makes music on a computer and would likely release all there work, do it yourself (DIY)everything kinda deal? (Publishing, Marketing, Promoting, etc) Is there such a book. For what its worth the book I'm referring to is Understanding the Music Business by Dick Weissman. Also please refrain from commenting that there isn't a need for specialized music business books for electronic producers where the run of the mill music business book should be a adequate for a general understanding. I'm aware of this, but for convenience sake and simplicity a more specialized book would prove much more interesting personally and be 100 Percent relevant. Cheers
