What about connecting the USB microphone to an USB port on your computer - then your OS should recognize it ("plug 'n' play")!

And then it should be possible to chose the microphone as audio input in Ableton...

If Live will not recognize the mic then your next best option would be to use the provided software - that is if software is installed to control the mic - and turn it on/off as needed.

You could also do this in Device Manager using enable/disable.

Or just eject the device from the USB port. I do not recommend just unplugging it. I receommend using the "Safely remove hardware" icon.

I realize none of the scenarios are ideal but it sounds like it's the best you can do.

If you have installed the mic correctly I am unclear why Live will not recognize it. Perhaps you should do a search for "Live does not recognize my microphone", or "how to set-up a microphone in Ableton Live".....something like those should produce some ways to trouble shoot the problem.

The problem with becoming frustrated is it shuts down the ability to think. Unfrustrate yourself, start thinking and you may find a solution easily.

Separate audio devices don't work well together, ASIO4ALL might help but you should get another standard mic that you plug into the sound card. You've got the wrong kind of mic for what you want to do. USB mics are meant for podcast recording on their own etc rather than for use with sound card.

A USB mic won't work with the Komplete Audio 6, or any other audio interface, really. Audio interfaces only recognize devices that are plugged into them, and I have yet to see an audio interface that takes USB input. This is probably because a USB mic already has an "audio interface" built into it.

So, to record with your USB mic in Ableton, you're going to take your Komplete interface out of the equation. Plug your USB mic directly into the computer. Then, you'll need ASIO4ALL to be able to use the USB mic with low latency, because you won't have the benefit of your interface (and the one in the mic doesn't reduce latency).

Here's the link to download ASIO4ALL: http://www.asio4all.com/

I'd also recommend checking out the Ableton manual, as it may provide advice for connecting a USB mic to Ableton.
