I noticed that every time Apple updates their ios.. some apps break? What's up with that? every time they do a update you see a developers app not working properly anymore. That really sucks

Thats just their mentality, and one I think they've tried to keep since getting rid of ppc support on osx. Its very much the opposite of every other OS, they wish to make changes and have no qualms about breaking APIs in order to try to advance their OSs.
I understand the mentality, they no longer want to be hindered by backwards compatability, but IMHO there are better ways to do it then breaking a bunch of peoples work every time. On the other hand they also realize that if someone is using one of their OSs professionally the majority of them will hold out on an older version of an OS much longer than the common user and wait a year or more until all their applications have been updated.

I think there's also an element of driving hardware sales. If all the apps run fine on an IPad 2 (and most still do) many still run on iPad 1 what's the point of getting the latest shiny?
Conversely you could argue that encouraging developers to keep their apps updated to take advantage of the new features of the new shiny helps customers get the best value from their investment.

That's why I went Android.
Only use an iPhone as it was a free hand me down.
Couple of apps I bought updated themselves even though they weren't compatible with my version of iOS and some where supposedlt compatible but won't even run now.
Plus I just don't like Apple

Where are all the "never upgrade your OS until you're certain it won't break things!" people?

My main tools: Kontakt, Omnisphere, Samplemodeling + Audio Modeling. Unify = godsend. Tari's libraries also rock.

What ever happend to "it just works" ........'cough'Jace-BeOS wrote:Where are all the "never upgrade your OS until you're certain it won't break things!" people?
How do you know its broken in the first place if it working for others?
Ive had apps that update which shouldnt have as the update was for a higher version OS and updates that were supposedly compatible.
Thankfully apps are cheap so its not a huge bummer.
Jasuto is available on Android, the one app I was most disappointed when it stopped working on my iphone (and much nicer on a 10" screen

You could just use both, theres nothing saying you can only be in one ecosystem. I use a nexus5 as my phone since I love android for customization and ease of use(yes I find android easier to use than apple). I also have an ipad air for doing all the tablety things like surfing on the couch, playing games, and making music, since IMHO they do that about 100x better than android.
Sure I end up occasionally having to buy an app twice, but its fairly rare since I never really buy music apps on android nor any games that are beyond a dollar or two. Besides I rarely play games on my phone, so there's no real reason to buy anything for android beyond a couple productivity type things.

All my apps (at least 40) are working just fine on latest iOS 8.2.
Air2, iPhone 5.
Can't stand googleware.
Just gotta make sure you back up your system first, if you want to stay on iOS7.
Keep your IAP's in iTunes and move them out of the trash on your system (if on Mac, and if you update the app).
This way you can restore back to previous iOS.
Problem is, if you don't update to latest iOS, then you get left out of a lot of nice updates and upgrades

Only music app that I know is broken on 8 at this point is Filtatron. What the hell, Moog.
(I don't actually have Filtatron; I've just been looking at the app description forever since I want it but it's still broke.)
