Hello,
I am looking for compressor which have:
- sidechain filters
- external sidechaining
- variable knee
- mix knob
Stock compressor in Cubase don't have mix and sidechain filters, which I need from time to time. Only one I found with all these features is Melda MDynamics, but doesn't seems easy to tweak.
Any suggestions?

There are hundreds of good compressors but if you're looking for a free one, ReaComp has all these features!

Thanks for your suggestions
ReaComp isn't VST3, so there is no ability to use it as a sidechain compressor. DMG seems really hard to set with all its features and Pro-C to me sounds slow (when I tested it last time).
Budget is about 100, but when it will be little more, it will not be a problem.

Melda one fits perfectly and it's free, other than that DC8C is good bang for the buck, really comes down to you, based on your needs and excitement/creativity factor, but Melda got you covered, if you want even more out of it, DC8C is perfect and money well spent

I've heard this before, but I use my mpressor in external sidechain mode all the time as a VST2.Palio wrote:Thanks for your suggestions

That´s wrong. Sidechaining works very well with VST2 plug-ins. But if your DAW doesn´t support sophisticated routing like REAPER does, you will have to use a VST3 plug-in, yes.Palio wrote: ReaComp isn't VST3, so there is no ability to use it as a sidechain compressor.

Did you try all of the compression styles and knee settings? The Classic style and hard knee settings with a short attack time will give you anything but slow response IME.Palio wrote:...and Pro-C to me sounds slow (when I tested it last time).

Melds M Dynamics isn't hard at all to set up. Reacomp Is also easy and free and had all your requested feature. Also the waves c1 does all the things you request and can generally be gotten pretty cheaply. All of these mentioned are pretty straightforward compressors that will not be imparting any special analog mojo or anything to your signal.Palio wrote:Hello,

I figure he talks about the use in Cubase which only has the ability to do sidechaining with VST3 plugins. At least unless you want to use the other (horrible) method.soulone82 wrote:That´s wrong. Unfortunately the melda free cono doesn't support external sidechaining unless he added it in a recent update.Passing Bye wrote:http://www.kvraudio.com/product/mcompre ... production
