Hi guys:
I'm working on a project where I need to be able to sample a musical note, break it down into it's harmonics, like a spectrum analyzer, tweak the frequencies of the individual harmonics, then resynthesize this back into an audio output. I'm not creating music, just analyzing sound.
I realize that there are programs out there that do this plus a jillion other features, but they are intimidating and cumbersome to use. Some of this software looks like the cockpit of an airplane! I don't need a drum machine or bizarre filters, etc. All I want to do is sample, tweak frequencies and play it back...nothing fancy.
I'm willing to pay for the software and I'm running Windows 8 on a Sony VAIO laptop. Do any of you have some suggestions or links for me? Thanks in advance for any replies.

SPEAR looks like what I'm looking for, but it says it's only good for XP/Vista. Do you think it would work in Windows 8?

No idea, try it. Don't see why not.
