Will be interested if these go in Ultimate next year or they make an 'Ultimate Really Really Komplete this time Honest guv' bundle - or something.

Post

Thus far nothing they have released that will go into k11 interests me.

Probably part of K11U is my guess, yeah.

Their virtual acoustic guitar is really really good, and this brass thing is very promising, imo.

70GB uncompressed sample material :o

Is that overkill ? :scared:

No, just the brass tacks.

"It's not scary. You just lose a sense of who you are and all that sh!t"

4 mic positions with all those instruments and articulations - sounds pretty tidy really.

Need to see an in depth video walkthrough to make a judgement on this. I like Session Horns Pro, though. I would expect Soundiron to do a good job. Does this mean they are going to do a woodwinds next?

Lol. Too many libraries on the market.

I wonder why they made Session Horns. Session Horns Pro has got solo instruments as well, doesn't it?
In my opinion Session Horns sounds synthetic because the section hasn't been sampled as a whole.
I think that this new product will be in Ultimate 11, too. Maybe then Session Horns Pro could be in Komplete 11.
I guess there will be also a new strings library.

I don't have the original Session Horns, but IMO Session Horns Pro is one of the most under-rated sample libs out there today. Things sound synthetic with their default Poly mode, but both voice-split and legato modes sound very good indeed. I own Broadway Big Band (@$1,500) and CHH vol2, and I reach for SHP in preference to both for ensemble work. It's far quicker to work with, and the ensembles in the two modes I mentioned are great.

I don't know how obvious this is to everyone, but this release and SHP cater for two different markets and are fundamentally very different products. I don't know of any library that attempts to do both these jobs - pop / jazz / big band brass vs orchestral brass, so it's perfectly logical to have both. I've never been a fan of Session Strings Pro, it'll be interesting to see if they revisit strings in this new series in the future.

The big unknown at this point with this release is its inclusion (or otherwise) with K11U. History and convention dictates yes, but there is a feeling that this is such a big release it may break with the past pattern. It's likely to hit sales, with people holding off to find out. Soundiron themselves have said they don't know.
