I’m trying to find a way of compressing / limiting the output of both garageband iOS and the podcast / music apps on my iPad. For garageband, its basically so I can bump up the volume as the output is very soft on my iPad. I can't seem to find any built in compressor / limiting in garageband iOS - is there any? As for the podcast app its just so I can make them louder as well as clamp down on any sudden loud sounds that podcasters sometimes dont remove and are really loud on headphones - most non-professional non-audio podcasts the dynamics vary too widely for me to listen to in my noisy car.
I believe audiobus will be necessary to do this, but I dont know which apps will give me this functionality? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
p.s. I'm also wondering if now might not be the best time to invest in this stuff and wait to see what happens when AU plugins are a part of IOS 9?
iOS compressor / limiter for podcasts & garageband app via audiobus?

Audiobus is more or less mandatory for any sort of audio processing in iOS. Apple made a kinda-sorta answer with Inter-App Audio but two years on its still not as widely implemented, and the fact that GarageBand still supports AB speaks volumes.
As far as an actual compressor, check out maybe Korvpressor, which is fairly new but well regarded. Not really sure of any other stand-alone compressors of note out there.
Edit: oh, sorry misread and thought you were recording. Hm, maybe AudioShare as an AB input? Not really aware of any AB-aware podcast apps unfortunately.

I run several synths/audio inputs through "Multitrack DAW" live so I can control relative volumes from a Korg Nanocontrol. The compressor in Multitrack DAW is great for what you are trying to accomplish too. Not a CPU hog.

Audiobus is really just a wrapper for IAA.
