Not much known about it at this point apart from this post over from Madrona Labs Forum.

"Well, audio input and frequency analysis of said audio, and of course an envelope follower, will be available in the patcher. So you can make audio-controlled synths or effects with it. You could even patch up something like a de-esser. But it's definitely more a creative tool than for utility effects.

Visually, it will be a lot like Aalto and Kaivo because I think that's a good interface to stay with for now.

More soon!"

I'm intrigued now :hyper:

I don't use their synths much, but when I need them, I know it, and am not disappointed. Colour me mildly curious :)

Madrona Labs always pull out creative & very unique plugins. Promising!

Definitely looking forward to this seeing one, although I haven't gotten round to picking up Kaivo yet either.

Thanks for the info!

But man I hope this GUI is a work in progress or a test. Othewise hello the migraines :shock: ...Yeah, it got to be a work in progres :hihi:

Post

Yes! Just what I hoped Madrona would release.

Post

Hope they make the dials better as they're too jumpy in their other synths,I keep going back to the demos but can't pull the trigger because of those dials

Post

^Don't click on the dials. Instead click and drag on the values shown near them.

We’ll be streaming a Virta demo event tonight at 7pm Pacific (UTC-8):

The video will also be archived there for a little while.

Yes all the the dials jump on purpose—it is one of three ways to use them: jump, drag, or fine drag. I consider it more flexible in performance to have all of these options. You can see an explanation of that as well as a lot of other Aalto tips in this tutorial video series:

What a name: Virta = Vis(-1)ta

But then again it is all Finnish and can mean:
-flow, stream
-river
-current (physics, electronics)
-electricity
-zip, energy, vigor, vim (personal energy)

Hit perfectly on the head as follows :D

So what I can understand is that Madrona Labs is into water:

Aalto = Wave
Kaivo = Well
Virta = Flow

it's obviously not a GUI - it's a layout sketch....

Virta is being released on Monday March 28th with an intro price of $89. This synth really looks like a lot of fun, can't wait to dive into it. Just wish it was being released before the weekend. :cry:
