It is because Winamp is the only player in which i can use VST plugins to enhance the sound or fix in real time what the mastering/mixing engineers broke.
Yes i tried the other player (foobar2000), but it crashed few times when i was trying to use some VST plugins, so i uninstalled it.
Winamp with Christian's VST host plugin simply works and i don't need anything more (the not needing anything more part is #2 reason).

Best to stick with what you know best, but MusicBee & MediaMonkey can also run VSTs i think,I use MusicBee but never used VSTs in it

I just run it because it works and I'm to lazy to chase down alternatives. And the shoutcast stations that I listen to PAY the artists in the same way that public broadcasters do.

I won't bother with that. Whenever a track needs fixing, I might do that and save the result & throw away (or archive) the old version. That way the fix doesn't need to be applied anymore again and I can concentrate on other things while music is playing in the background.

I still use winamp to listen mp3's since it's the best :D

You may like the rumor that Winamp may come alive again somepoint.

I use Winamp because I'm used to the UI, and because with a plugin, it's less of a hassle to sync an iPod with it than it is to use iTunes. I try to avoid having iTunes installed on any of my machines :P

(But then, I haven't synced or even used my iPod since last December when I subscribed to Google Play Music, so that's kind of a moot point now.)

Because winamp really whips the llama's ass?

foobar2000 + George Yohng's VST Wrapper + Bidule = my playground. Mixing chains, modulation fx, reverbs, etc., etc.

Milkdrop...I like to see my music. If anyone has any other suggestions for visualizations, I would welcome them. I use the Trippy Sound Color Synesthesia app on the iPad.

Never really liked the GUI of Winamp. But i remember the equalizer had a great sound. :) That's what i miss with most players, a nice equalizer. The one in foobar has too many bands, and the one in Clementine was totally horrible and wrong.

Ah.. This is also one of the reasons I love Winamp :D Nothing beats the vizualizer ^^

Kicked Winamp long time ago. For musicians using/needing a lot of converting features, Foobar2000 is hard to beat. I use also the scripting features so it's very easy to convert a WAV to MP3 and strip with a click some useful data from the filename and add all needed id3 tags for a complete folder/selected files. Also the uPnP Server is very easy to use, to stream from Foobar2000 over the net to another client (Smartphone, TV, etc)
ASIO is also supported with a plugin and there is also a VST wrapper plugin (but I don't need a VST plugin inside Foobar2000) and: it's free ;)

No for me there is no reason to use Winamp. Winamp is so yesterday 8)

yeah...theres not a lot of really good ones. milkdrop is still the best (arguably). i would imagine if you know about milkdrop you probably already know about g-force, or maybe not since milkdrop is bundled with winamp.

anyway...,milkdrop is made by ryan geiss. ryan geiss had previously made the visualizer called simply "geiss"...and it was superb (still pretty good, and runs as a screensaver if you want). well thats where the "g" in g-froce comes from, as an homage to the work ryan did.

anyway...g-force is just as good as milkdrop (but different)...an argument can be made that its better than milkdrop, and it is in some respects. it doesnt do any kind of 3d stuff...but the transitions are far better and the the responsiveness to the music is better. because it doesnt do any 3d...maybe it doesnt look quite as slick as milkdrop...but its certainly more "trippy" if thats what youre after.

milkdrop uses scenes, so you see a lot of the same thing over and over...g-force will never show you the exact same thing twice.

unfortunately it costs $$.

milkdrop and g-force are really the only 2 that are worth looking at.

oh...and back on topic...i still use winamp because why wouldnt i?

:edit because i forgot to include it: g-force can be found here: https://www.soundspectrum.com/
