I have just got a pair of yamaha hs7's and the power cables that came with them are for a European socket. Is it ok to use a converter, or will i need different cables? I contacted their support but got no response :/

And your location is where outside of Europe?
If you have 110V mains power and these can only handle 230v, best is to send them back and order the proper model.

I'm in Ireland. We use the same three pronged socket as the UK.

OK Ireland... So you have 230V mains power, just like continental Europe, so the voltage is not an issue. I googled an image of the HS7 monitors, more specifically of the back. It shows a standard 3-prong "C13/C14" power connector, same as used on most desktop PCs and various other appliances. You can buy a set of fitting power cords in any local (computer) shop. Or ask around at friends. I have a habit of not throwing away cords like that when a device has died. Never know when it comes in handy...
Or cut off the plugs from the cords you got and mount some power plugs you can buy at any DIY shop. Only thing to watch out for, is put the yellow-green striped ground at the right conductor.

Perfect! Thank you very much for your help.
