I wasn't aware that Tracktion have upgraded the old MDA freeware workhorses, and now sell them:

Anybody tried them, and know if they are good enough to cost $40 ?

Hi Numanoid,

I have used the last big sale for updating to Tracktion 6 WITH the TSC synth package AND the TSC master mix for 30 $, the master mix was the one I was really after cause I dont really need no functions of Tracktion 6.

In the synth package you get one fm synth and one analog synth, the best I could say about them both is that they are 64 bit :) . The presets (around 40 or so for the fm, around 50 or so for the analog) are far away from the best freeware synths you could get these days (even in the smaller field of 64 bit ones) in my opinion, I have one time been threw them and sure not to use them. What I cant judge are the possibilities of sound development with theses synths cause I mostly use presets or just modulate sounds but this gui (if you can call it a gui at all...) and the sounds not really animated me to try it out.

So as an encore to master mix and the upgrade for 30 $ it was o.k. even if I cant imagine to ever use it (maybe if someday there is a tracktion osc :D ) but for the list price of 40 $ only for the synth package for me its ridiculous.

Kind regards,

Richard

Thanks for the info, Yeah I thought they were a bit pricey too, JX seems only to have one OSC and the FM synth doesn't look to have more than one operator based on the screenshots of the GUI

Kind of a weird thing to sell IMO. These were barely passable when they were some of the only freeware out there.
