I just upgraded to Windows 10, everything seems fine except my BCR2000 drivers. It isn't seen by Studio One and trying to install the 64 bit drivers from Behringer's site fails. Any ideas how to get it working?

The good news is that it has real midi ports, I'll try and dig out my old midi interface that has been collecting dust for years. Kinda clunky way to get it working though, midi via USB has me spoiled.

And the better news is someone suggested I run the latest driver installer using compatibility mode, I set it for Win 7. I also unpacked the installer fully before running it this last time, so that could have been it too, I'm not sure, but damn happy it is fixed. So I officially have nothing down after upgrading to Win 10. Yay!

braj, which driver did you install?

The newest driver I found on Behringer site is from December 2009, version 1.0.10 but I can't get it to install. I tried all the compatibility modes but no luck. Windows only seems the BCR2000 as unknown device. If I remember correctly, on Win8 it used to work straight out of the box.

Yes, 1.0.10 is the latest driver. First, make sure you're downloading the right version (32- or 64-bit) according to your Windows version. Then unzip/extract the files to a folder and run the installer with the BCR2000 unplugged. After installation plug the BCR2000 in and see if the drivers are getting installed automatically ...

If you haven't already you can also try to run the installer via mouse-right-click -> "Run as administator".

If I remember correctly, on Win8 it used to work straight out of the box.

If I remember correctly the driver is (only) necessary if you're using at least two BC-units (BCR2000 and/or BCF2000) at the same time so that there aren't any conflicts between using two (or more) units.

Still no luck. The installer seems to be doing something but gives a timeout error after a while, regardless of if I have the BCR2000 connected or not.

If I plug the device in when the installer tells me to, I get "device not recognized" message from Windows.

Did you make sure to unpack the installer before running it?

I unpacked it. It is x64 version as I'm on 64bit Windows, too. Tried every compatibility mode setting with the same result. Running as admin makes no difference either.

Did you uninstall the BCR-entry in Windows Device Manager before trying to install the driver again?

Have you already tried to download the driver-zip-file again from the webpage to rule out if the download file might have been corrupted?

Otherwise in Windows Device Manager you can try to update the driver via mouse-right-click, then choose "browse my computer for driver software" and manually point to the unpacked driver-folder which includes the driver-.inf file.

If you haven't already also try using a different USB-port to connect the BCR to your computer.

Thanks for the suggestions. I already tried all those but no luck. Device Manager has no entry for BCR2000 because windows only sees it as "unknown device". Manual installation or switching USB ports didn't help either. Downloaded the driver several times already as well.

I was in contact with Behringer support but they couldn't help either. They also had no idea if an updated driver will ever be coming out.

And there are no other (generic named) entries in Device Manager like under 'Sounds video and game controllers' which might be the BCR?

Some additional points to check, just in case:

o) When powering on the BCR which number (firmware version) is briefly shown on the LCD-display (latest is 1.10)?

o) Is the BCR set up in an operating mode (U1-U4) so that the USB port is enabled?

(1) Press EDIT + STORE button to get into global setup
(2) Turn the first push-encoder (TYPE) in the top row to set the operating mode
(3) Press EXIT to leave global setup
(4) Optional: power the BCR off and on again

o) Otherwise do you have the option to connect the BCR via MIDI cables (using operating mode S1-S4) to your computer (maybe to rule out if it might be a faulty USB-port on the BCR itself)?

Nothing under "Sound, video and game controllers". Under USB tree I see "Unknown USB device (Invalid Device Descriptor)", that should be the BCR. Under properties it says "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43). The USB device returned an invalid USB device descriptor."

I have firmware 1.10 and operating mode shows U3.

I think via MIDI cables it should work. Will have to try that. But on Win8 it did work via USB and since Win10 does see that something is connected, I don't think the port is the problem.

Not a great solution, but if you have any other USB ports that the BCR can tap into, use old fashioned midi. At least that won't depend on BCR drivers. I almost did this, but my old Midiport also doesn't work in OS 10. SOmehow I got lucky, I dunno how, but it works here just fine.
