Hello im trying to figure out how deadmau5 does his effect in the intro of this song

If you have any theories im open to discuss about it, I have a rough theory that he has one synth routed to 2 busses or probably 3 but one is clean probably with a spl transient shaper, second bus would be delay and automation of wet knob or something like that, third would be the reverb wet/dry automated .. I know for shure he has a shit ton of hardware but im not buying any of it any time soon .. its also done in this song

p.s im not a fan of him just his techniques and textures

I'm also really curious about this. However It's not a 'crazy technique' I think, just something simple. Sounds like a delay (with sophisticated space adjustments what you can achieve with Echoboy or Guitar Rig for instance) and/or reverb automated. In case of a delay solution the groove or offset is automated.

If anybody could elaborate with a more clever explanation I would appreciate that. I've seen on twitch that Deadmau5 extensively uses Ableton's Ping Pong Delay which has a nice offset feature and it can give a very pleasant 'slap in, drag in, slap back' or whatever they call it feel to the sounds.

You can use for reverb Space Master from Reaktor and for delay PsycheDelay from Guitar Rig, Joel uses too.

Yes, he has huge Eurorack setup. And this intro sounds pretty much like Eurorack net with lots of feedback.

I would do such stuff with automating the delay times of a ping pong delay. The reverb is automated too (wet/dry) and it sounds a bit digital so I don't think it's some of the known brands, maybe the reverb from the DAW (I think he is using Ableton?)

I am not expert but I am pretty sure you could achieve that effect with Valhalla Shimmer.

It kind of really grabs hold of the late reverb reflections and propagates them intensely based on the settings you choose.

Eos Damage might be able to do it also but not as simply.
