Thanks for the reportRob It might help people reading this while beeing in the same situation you were.rob_lee wrote: ↑Wed Feb 13, 2019 11:53 amIt seems a reboot is needed for not only StiX but lots of other plugins I have been reinstalling on Mojave. All good and working well in Logic now.. very nice features, darl skin rocks. Try it out more todayrob_lee wrote: ↑Tue Feb 12, 2019 5:06 pm Well I downloaded the trial licence to my iLok the other day and have been checking it out in Live and it seems to work ok however it's a no go in Logic. It's not even recognised in the plugin manager. I checked to see if StiX was blacklisted but it's not even in the list. Any ideas?

When is the release version predicted released, Lotuzia? The features are a must to make good use of StiX. I own it and just left it alone because the presets were very limited.

Wich type of presets ?fantasyfancy wrote: ↑Thu Feb 14, 2019 10:02 am When is the release version predicted released, Lotuzia? The features are a must to make good use of StiX. I own it and just left it alone because the presets were very limited.
StiX has many types of presets
Global : Includes up to 12 patterns, 1 song, one drumkit, 10 drumpad/drumsounds, all mixer/effects settings
Drum kits : Includes 10 drumpad
Drum Pads : A drum sound made with more than 130 synthesis parameters
Patterns : A rythm pattenr
Song : A chain of patterns
Samples : A sample
All in all StiX has around 2500 presets atm iirc : Approx 175 Global presets, 100 drumkits, 800 drumpads, 850 patterns, etc.
You can also mass import/mass tag your own samples, create new drumkits on the fly, randomize patterns or sequencer lines, so one can quite easily expand the global ecosystem.
Technically speaking there are for example more drumpads than the strict number of presets I mentioned, because we did not save every analog kick variation found in some global preset as a single drumpad preset. Same goes for the drumkits or patterns.
The fact that you can mix/match different presets, and presets types in the preset manager increases the possibilities. StiX is actually a kind of huge drum world Lego system.
But well, what kind and type of presets do you expect to find more in the future ?
(as for the beta, it's already available on the site, and will be turned in def. v1.5.1 version at one point within the next weeks)

I loved the demo audio demo's for StiX. Looks like it's well on it's way to V2. I know it's a different flavor but maybe you can add probability sequencing and make StiX compete better with FXpansion Geist 2. I made a few things with Geist 2 and it's great to be able to sequence tons of pattern steps with a probability amount per step and a different loop point on each drum sound. You can do deep polyrhythmic stuff and isometric patterns with Geist or just fun stuff. StiX is a keeper I think.

Probabilities and individual sequence end points might come at a point. Note : You can more/less fake polyrythms with the PolyStep modulator (with clever parameters modulations admitedly) but it's not strictly similar it's true (though interesting and does things that Geist or any other drum machine can't do)fantasyfancy wrote: ↑Thu Feb 14, 2019 10:33 am I loved the demo audio demo's for StiX. Then, keep in mind that Geist only adresses samples as sound sources : In StiX you have state of the art analog modelled oscillators ( Morphing capability is a bonus), Sine + waveshaping, FM synthesis@audiorate, Cross Synthesis etc AND also finally ... samples. Add last generation zdf analog filters, special r-clap envelopes etc. All of this Geist can't do.
Also StiX is a one panel Drum Machine with a very fast workflow. It's very intuitive and the learning curve is rather fast I think, given the depth it delivers.
So that (imho) : StiX and Geist should compliment each other nicely, more than compete.

I'll check it out again much more thoroughly when the post beta of v1.5.1 is out. I think it needs more complete drumkits programmed into another future version. Thanks for your replies.

Noted. Thanks for your input. Yes, we'll add some over time.fantasyfancy wrote: ↑Thu Feb 14, 2019 11:17 am I'll check it out again much more thoroughly when the post beta of v1.5.1 is out. I think it needs more complete drumkits programmed into another future version. Thanks for your replies.
Just in case you miss it :

The automatic drumkit creation tool also incorporates automatically new drumpads (your own, for example with your own samples, or 3rd party). So this video was made with StiX 1.0, and would probaly be different now with v 1.5)

-Very long and- In depth review of StiX v1.5 from Markus Schroeder at Amazona.de + comparisons with other drum machines + some sound examples (at the bottom of the page).
For Markus, StiX is 'his number one drum machine'
' Pros :
It's in German, but for non german readers, just use Google Translate.(right click on page, translate)

The Sound !
Full access to deep sound synthesis
Individual Presets for instruments (drumpads), drum kits & patterns

The author doesn't hide though that he's kind of a fanboy... and the polyrythmic headline is actually misleading. But, interesting drum machine, no question. Will give it a try sooner or later because - at least to my needs - it fills a gap between MDrummer and Atlas.

You can get a time limited full featured demo on demand on xils site. And well, there's never been a better time window to purchase StiX than ... now.elassi wrote: ↑Fri Feb 15, 2019 9:14 pm The author doesn't hide though that he's kind of a fanboy... and the polyrythmic headline is actually misleading. Kevin Schroeder : He has written over 250 articles/reviews for Amazona. Iirc, his 1st review of StiX in 2016 had some concerns we tried to adress, such as not enough patterns saved as presets, though the factory global presets already included more than 700 different patterns at that time. But, yes, he likes StiX, and also, I must say that reading his article, he has a very good knowledge of it, wich I feel is sometimes a bit lacking from certain reviews (not especially about StiX, but intruments reviews in general). I read some of his other articles, and found out that he has a clear and informed vision of all the instruments. It's a long review, but I think it explains very well a lot of what StiX is : A versatile giant Lego system for electronic drums.
