Hi,
Problem is, the sound is unclean, when more than one string is vibrating.
So, what is the preferred method to mute all the other strings? Is there a trick?

Obviously, but what kind of sock?No_Use wrote:My guitar teacher sometimes wrapped a sock around the guitar neck (at the first fret) when doing two hand tapping to stop string vibrating(no joke).

The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Most aren't, you're right.
But the Allparts one is actually Jenifer Batten's design, now being sold through a major guitar parts shop. It used to be available only on her site. Find some videos of her, she's plenty pro -- Michael Jackson, Jeff Beck. You have to be pretty amazing to get asked to play with Jeff Beck, you know?
Still, like most equipment, you don't have to use one to make great music. Santana never used one, far as I know.

I saw Beck w/Batten once and expected a sorta guitar battle-like thing, but he just had her off to the side, almost backstage, just playing supportive parts and Jeff was up front displaying his famous virtuoso playing style.
She did record at least one record with him I know of...what ever happened to her?
Back to topic...keeping your guitar away from feedbacking and being in the path of extreme loud levels, especially if the pickups are not a filtering humbucking type. Most of it is experience playing at loud levels and advanced hand-muting technique. Over time, you just do it unconsciously. Muting strings by finger touching/tapping. You don`t even realize your doing it and it happens fast, so you really don`t see other players doing it either.
....................Don`t blame me for 'The Roots', I just live here.

Whatever happened to everyone?
Batten still tours regularly throughout europe and on a smaller scale the U.S. She never had a breakthrough hit of her own. Trying to get gigs doing the material she performs is hard to come by in the states. It's harder then one thinks to even get GC clinics. I follow her on fb. As a guitarist and as a tapper especially I think she's highly underrated. In a world filled with shred monkees tapping and sweeping she's considered passe. People forget all the things she brought to the form. As well she hasn't aged well. Which sadly is often the first thing that people associate with female guitarists.
