Hi all,
Watched Octavox's vid some where last week and this plug-in is fun to mess with. However, I am looking for a similar product which cost bit less. Do you have any suggestion ?
Thanks!

Just saw that they have it on sale till the end of February for $99: https://www.eventideaudio.com/promo/octavox_sale
PluginDiscounts and JRRShop have it on even lower price. ~$85
Just saw the demo and it looks hella fun. Seriously thinking about buying it.

Pretty immediate... hmmm.

I like the idea -- kind of like an arp for audio, among other things -- and the sale price is good, however, I watched all three Eventide youtube videos, and have to say I'm yet to hear anything from it which floors me. I'd love to hear more.

You can use any good pitch-shifter.
The best one seems to be kerovee. It is more complicated (more knobs),
but the results are excellent!

I've downloaded the demo and had a play ... there are some quite varied sounds. I tried it on some acoustic instruments (solo piano, winds, brass) and while it's hit and miss, some of the hits are pretty lovely, or , suitably mixed, just nice. (Turning the global feedback to 0% sometimes gives a pretty natural effect. )
Next I want to check it out as a lead guitar and maybe vocal fattener.
At the sale price I think I'll go for it.

That's what I'm thinking. I've used Zplane's Vielklang Instant Harmon for years, but this has some cool click-once.or-twice features that seem more "immediate", like being able to play it with the keyboard.TheoM wrote:hmm the quality on those vids turning the analog mono hardware synth polyphonic sound spot on to me. But i skipped over this cause it was only in the big bundle originally. For $99 smackeroos i don't think I can pass this up. Thanks for the topic! and thanks to eventide for releasing it as a solo plugin.
And no i don't know of any other plugins with 8 voice pitch shifting with this quality. There was harmony engine with 4 voices i think it was but very scratchy quality.
Price seems reasonable to me.

I could probably cobble together some things together and get something similar, but for the price, this DOES look "immediate". A few clicks and your scale notes are defined for you, the shifting sounds good (it is Eventide, afterall), and the global delay could make for some nice ambient washes with sustained input. Pretty sure I'm in on this intro price. Gotta demo first. Tomorrow I shall see. I think this would be a good tool to have to get some impromptu grooves going. I have a feeling that there are some surprises waiting to be discovered. That potential excites me.

Not even surprising myself anymore. Bought Octavox and Waves NX for the intro prices. Make a note here-- no, I did not demo jack. Not sure what to expect from NX, but at minimum, it will allow to set up listening enironments for just pure listening (as in, kicked flat on the rack with phones and a pillow behind my head.). Worth monkeying with for $50 imho.

As far as i can judge there is a kind of "old school" feel and it is a rather versatile effect in its own way
Even without either midi mode, pitch detection and tempo synchronisation, there is a huge area of possibilities using both delay time by steps of 0.1 milliseconds (and this is very useful to create complex tuned sympathetic resonances, for instances)
and pitch shifting by steps of 1/1000 of semitones
(a big amount of chorus/detune effects to create with up to 8 delay lines)
The only regret i have on that respect, so far : No way to include a pitch shift effect into the feedback loop, with such details pitch shift as 1/1000 of semi tones, it would have given some fantastic sounding effects
Keep in mind because i read some reference to vielklang or kerovee in this thread, that in the contrary Octavox is strictly a real-time effect !
