u-he working on a Pro 1 emulation, alpha to be released in April :hyper:

The alpha version is going to be research ware, i.e. free like Protoverb. Hence "RePro-1 - Research Project One". It'll be a CPU hog because we want you guys to compare the unoptimised filter algorithms. We expect to release the alpha version shortly after the Superbooth in early April 2016.

I bet they will do a great pro-1/prophet emu. I have to say though, I was really hoping for Zebra 3 to be the focus, seems like it keeps getting bumped by other things.

It's nice that they release the alpha for free. Not sure if it will be of much use though, if it's not optimized, and it will be a massive hog. Rather something for alpha/beta testers i guess. Fair enough.

But Pro 1, then it will be monophonic, and still a CPU hog?

Post

Yes, if you want it to sound as close as the original.

Not really, read the linked thread. Development of RePro (new filter code for Diva "divine" quality filters at half the CPU) will go into Zebra 3 as well.

So this is gonna be a labour of love like Bazille, that took several years from start to finish

And it was well worth the journey :tu:

Except this one definitely won't take several years. :)

The Berlin Modular was first mentioned in late 2008 ?

Bazille was released officially late september 2014

So lets not hope rePro will take 5 years+ :)

Bazille is far from being Berlin Modular. AFAIR, Berlin Modular project included also an Ace Pro (still to be released, if ever), and also a third synthesizer, which I no longer remember what it would be.

I don't think Z3 got derailed and part of this effort is intended for it as well. Urs mentioned this new synth as a "personal interest" type of project, something for his devs to learn from and work on. With all the talk about Zebra3 lately, I'll bet it delivers this year ...

Well, one milestone at a time :D

Interesting development. Was waiting to see if NI would follow up Monark with a Sequential Pro 5 for Reaktor.

You mean Pro-53 VST evolving into a Reaktor ensemble?

Good idea! :tu:
