I've always been entering remix contests, for the purpose of winning of course, but also to learn and try different genres and evolve as a producer. I really suck at marketing my tracks so I'm usually at the bottom of the contest charts..
In the description of all remix contests it says: "While getting your track to the top of the charts will gain it increased recognition, the winner will ultimately be chosen by the judging panel, regardless of it's position on the charts."
The quote above actually answers my question, but I doesn't really believe it. Do the judges really listen through the entire charts? My view on remix contests is that the best remix will win, not the one who has already the most followers and get many votes, but is it really like that? It may be but I want to know if someone know a little bit more about this, or better maybe somebody has been in the judging panel?
Hope somebody can give me some answers! Thanks!
Remix contests; NOT having your track on the top of the charts.

Yes - the winners for the past few contests where I submit have all been well below the most popular tracks -- both in number of plays and popular votes. Marketing your track to friends/family/followers/bots/etc. is very different from writing a track that an actually artist will like.
Make a good track. Let the artist & label then make it popular where it counts.
