32-bit VST on 64-bit Cubase?

Can 64-bit Cubase Artist 6 run 32-bit VST plugins? Or would I need somethign liek JBridge for that?

No, Cubase has a built-in bit bridge. I wouldn't expect too much though, the plugins i tried had GUI issues. You always can install the 32-bit version of Cubase alongside the 64-bit version though. They even have different settings folders then and all that, so they don't interfere at all.

Edit: Not sure if that alsp applies to Cubase 6! Only tried with the latest version of Cubase 8 Elements.

I ran Cubase x32 alongside Cubase x64 for quite a while. Eventually, all the x32 plugs that I really liked either got upgraded to x64 versions, or someone else developed something even better in x64 that replaced it.

Other than the processing, the two versions do have some differences, and eventually I just dropped x32 altogether. Now I understand that Steinberg have also dropped it as 8.5 will be the last version to support a 32 bit environment.

I wouldn't like to run both 32- and 64-bit at teh same time. So I think I'll just drop that idea.

I'll have to check what VST I really liek that are only available in 32-bit. See if they run OK on Cubase's bridger. For the rest. I'll see what 64-bit versions are available.

Not sure if it really has a name. It's simply implemented in the plugin handling, the bridged plugin won't look different really. You may have some troubles with the GUI, or the loading of the GUI takes longer though. Or it behaves a little sluggish. At least that's my experience.

OK, it looks like I've to try and see what works and what doesn't. Maybe it's time for me too to move on to 64-bit entirely...
