What's up folks? First off, I'm am absolute newbie here and am looking to purchase the Thermionik - Modern Classics I and II. I've been playing metal for a few decades but this is my first venture into something like this. I have a Focusrite iTrack solo that I need to connect (the old iPhone 4S adaptor and getting a female end with a USB on the other side is a pain - still need to find this). In summary, my question is, is this DAW good enough to get things rolling? This only records in 'mono' but I am only recording one guitar but I have no idea how this will sound like. Is there a better DAW I should invest in to get rolling here? What do you guys all use?

Hello.
Long time Minneapolis resident here. Glad to have you at kvr.
DAWs, (or as they are often called here, 'hosts') are, like almost everything here, a matter of controversy. But the general consensus is that the main difference between music production
applications is workflow.
I myself would suggest getting as much work done as possible with what you have before trying anything else. Try other applications only when you feel you can't get the job done with what you already have.
Good luck.

Were you looking to record to your iPhone? Do you have any other devices? Because I think that trying to mix would be difficult on a phone.

Among the inexpensive daws,
Mixcraft 7 is efficient and very easy to handle

EnergyXt as well

You can test both for free (mixcraft on acoustica's web page)

Thank you. I appreciate all the replies. In summary, I ended going with Reaper, which seems to work great so far. I originally purchased a Focusrite iTrack solo to record on an iPad a few years back but decided at this juncture for what I a doing to focus on recording on my current high powered workstation. I finally have almost everything setup, however, my audio interface is woefully inadequate to record metal as there seems to be a known issue with it clipping so I decided to upgrade to a Scarlett 2i4 that has a pad to address this (I'll start another threat on that issue).
